What are your favorite "alternate" song lyrics, or lyrics you went for years thinking were something other than the actual ones?

"There's a bathroom on the right" is always a classic

For a long time, I thought the Disco song "Funky Town" opened with the words "Taco Party, Taco, Party..." rather than "Talk about it, Talk about it..."

My daughter could never get it in her head that Bruce Springsteen was singing "I'm on Fire" not "Elmer Fudd". :smilie39:

LOL She most have heard the Robin WIlliams (I think it was him - it was a long time ago) impression of Elmer Fudd singing that song

This afternoon my wife and I were listening to BuzzSaw on Sirius when "Rock you like a Hurricane" by the Scorpions came on. For most of the song she wasn't saying "Rock you", it was something else but I couldn't tell what she was saying. I finally asked her and she said "Raunchy like a Hurricane". I didn't know hurricanes were raunchy. LOL

My brother thought the Slaughter song "Fly to the Angels" was "Fly Two Lonely Angels".

One of the classics is The GoGo's Alex the Seal..Apparently when they got to Australia everyone was requesting that song and the band had no clue what they were asking about?

When I was a kid, I thought they were singing "How does it feel?"

One that bothered me growing up..."Blinded by the Light" by Manfred Mann. Swept up like a what? A douche? It wasn't until a few years ago I finally looked up the lyrics on the internet.

And one that downright annoyed me..."Take Me Home Tonight" by Eddie Money. I always thought he was saying "just like what it sounds". I never really liked that song, and hearing something I couldn't understand made it even worse.

That's another one that kinda bothered me growing up. I always knew the correct lyrics, but if you listen closely, it sounds like they're sticking a "ch" in there..."Rotch you like a hurricane". I just chalk it up to the German accents.

From Queen's "We Are the Champions" ....it gets to a spot in this song where one of the background vocals sounds JUST like when my brother would hollar for me from the front of the house when I was at the back. I would come out and say, "Did you call me?" and he would look at me crazy...it happend over and over as I played the 45 many times in a row. I finally figured out what it was.

It is at 2:20 in this video from youtube:

A couple Elton John songs bother me everytime I hear them. The line "hold me closer tiny dancer", sounds exactly like "hold me closer Tony Danza", and of course "don't let your son go down on me" is just creepy.
