I just bought my wife the Canon SD850IS so she could have a small camera in her purse at all times. I then started thinking about UW photography and the cost of getting a housing for my Nikon D200. It seems both Canon and Ikelite offer housings for the Canon. The Canon housing is rated to 130fsw and the Ikelite to 200fsw. Seems like like this would be a cheap way to get my feet wet in UW photography and see if I really want to cough up the $2K to take the Nikon under.

Does anyone have any experience with either of these housings they could share?

Not the exact housing that you are asking about but I have the Canon housing for my S1IS. Great fit, all the controls are a perfect fit, and I got a set of weights to control the buoyancy of the camera.

Thanks for the info TAH. I saw where they offered a weight kit for the SD850IS housing (WPDC15) but they also stated the camera/housing were already neutrally buoyant.

The S1IS is slightly positive, with the batteries I use I need 2 weight plates to make it neutral, I usually dive with it having 1, slightly positive but not so much that it it really wanting to float up.
I had dropped it once and was easily able to retrieve it, I don't like the idea of the rig sinking off into oblivion.

I have the sd800 and I do not have to use any weight with it. Housing works great as it should.
