He looks like a real winner. Maybe the kid will start his own black/hispanic mixed race gang and will take out both of his parent's gangs.

All I can say about this is, "Wow." So sad that which gang to choose is the goal they are going to encourage their child to pursue.

Sadly in the article there is no mention of involving child protective services.

Yet another example of the old adage "Truth is stranger than fiction".

sad - would like to see a follow-up article when the kid hits 16 (roughly 12 years from now) and see how things turned out for him and the parents - probably would be a very depressing story

This will be yet another self fulfilling prophecy. The kid hasn't a foopsing chance, nor will his siblings, nor will their children and their childrens' children...

I am certainly an advocate of having a "children's license", much like a "driver's license". There are certain people who should just not be allowed to reproduce.

If I read the story right: She's a "Crip" He's a "Westside Baller". This is just too much like Romeo and Juliett only with a twist: They reproduced.

True story:

Two years ago, my company moved my job from Houston to Corpus Christi. I was a little upset at being uprooted, but as a diver and a sailor, I thought Corpus would be a good spot to live (keep in mind this is NOT a dig at Corpus, a place I enjoy, but a dig at a mindset).

Anyway...my wife was reluctant, but agreed to give it ago. The first few days were tough, but I'll spare you the details. In summary, she already had some concerns regarding some of the school.s

We got too WalMart one evening. We forgot it was "tax free day", the day sale taxes are suspended for school related items, including clothing.

It's packed. We're in a long line. Behind us is a family of, I dunno, somewhere between 6 and 12 kids. The parents wait in the long line, holding a place, while the kids run off to pick out their own clothes.

A teen daughter comes back with all red clothes, including a bandanna, a decorative baseball cap and a sports jersey.

The mom: "Hey, girl. Whatchyou buyin'? Those be gang colors, you know that? You gonna get 'spelled agin'. "

"No, mama. These ain't no gang colors." The other kids start laughing and shoving her.

Mamma gets on the cell phone to check the clothes against some list, ostenibly a school-supplied list of banned gang-related clothing that a relative had in hand. The go through the list.

"Those are like MS 13 colors. You like MS13, girl?", Mama asked.

"No mama. Those ain't MS13. Their colors stink. "

Dad chimes in. "MS13 colors aren't like that, but they ain't bad, either. That gang, I know that gang. They're like, not cool at all."

Let's see. They were arguing over what gang colors were best or maybe what gang was best. That was it for my wife.

She went back home the next day. She never came back, even for a visit. I had to stay down and work off a relocation contract for six months, then resign to come back to the big city. At least here, we have some REALLY cool gangs.

I work at a Youth Residential Treatment facility. Trust me, there are A LOT of people that should never be allowed to have kids.
