On our certification dives I saw several schools of fish which looked similar to Sergeant Majors, but were Black and White stripes. Anybody know what I was looking at? When I asked my instructor after the fact, he said it may have been tilapia, but after looking at photos, I don't think they were.

Sorry, no photos. I meant the pictures I found of the tilapia online didn't resemble the fish that I saw.

We saw a lot of black and white striped fish when we went snorkeling there. The boat captain said they were sheepshead also.

if i remember correctly that crystal river is slightly salty, then its a sheepshead, or possibly a mango snapper with heavy stripes

Crystal River saltwater? I've been in Crystal River many times in King's Bay and it positively fresh water. Now you're making me think my memory is bad - hmm.

That area is fed by the springs. Pretty sure it's fresh water.
