A friend of ours in Orlando is trying to plan a party where we go rent a few jet skis and take them out for a while, but is running into a huge obstacle- They're all very outrageously priced!

Coco Beach wanted $400 a day. St.Pete, Bradenton and Siesta Key all wanted about $85 an hour or 450 for a full day! Meanwhile, you can rent a pontoon boat for a day for $295.

Does anyone have any suggestions for someplace cheaper we can rent them from? We're trying to stay within 2-3 hours of Orlando and would prefer salt water, but are open to fresh if it's significantly cheaper. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!

Insurance for a PWC is many times more expensive, than a party barge boats, plus the operating costs for a PWC are exponentially more.
1-2 years in a rental pool and the $10K pwc is toast, vs 5 years plus with almost no maintenance for the barge.

So that's probably the best rate we're going to get then. Hmm.. thanks for the input. It doesn't seem so bad when the costs are explained a little. Since most of these rental places are the only ones in that area, I just figured they were overcharging.

When you are getting close to the time of the party you could check out Craigs list for any for sale. Then e-mail the owners if they would rent them to you.

Also a good suggestion. I'll have to take a look. :)
