Is the Ikelite Autoflash AF35 a good strobe or should I suck it up and get the DS-51 with manual controller. Right now I have a canon A590IS and an ikelite housing and I believe the AF35 will be fine for it. I would like to get a wide angle lens in the future. This is the only set up My wife and I have and if we upgrade we will probably keep this system and one of us use the new stuff (me:smiley2:) and one of us uses the old setup (her:smiley36:) I'm looking for as compact a rig as possible and the AF35 is the most compact ikelite strobe as far as I can tell.

Here is a link compairing the two strobes mentioned. If these are the ones you are set on I would go with the DS-51 ($380) VS the AF35 ($435) but after the tray, arm, ect. it would cost around $100 more ($425).

:smiley20: I would look at the Sea & Sea DX YS27 ($379.00 from ST, after 10% off $349) with the tray and arm!!
*** Better coverage, Battery life (490 vs 200/300), Lighter, Faster (2 sec vs 2.5 or 3)

Good luck!!

DevilDiver: No i'm not set on those but they were two I was considering. I'm an underwater camera newbie and don't know a thing about it. Thanks for the website...I have some more research to do!

They recently released the new improved Sea & Sea YS-110a. This should be a great strobe for DSLR and P&S systems. Worth taking a look at........
