I am going nuts with all this rain, I need to be diving in water I can see more than 2 feet. I don't see the lakes clearing up anytime this year.
Where would be the best places to dive this summer that will still have some VIS? I am thinking about a trip to Oronogo soon are there any other Quarries near Springfield, MO where the vis would be decent?:smiley19:

Yeah, next year we will have a drought and the lakes will dry up!

I think the quarry at Eugene is better than the lake in terms of vis. It's not perfect nor as good as it can be, but it's better than the lake.

The lake is 8 feet of vis right now, that's not bad at all.

Oh, quit worrying about the rain and get down to Tablerock. :smiley36:
Dove there (Dewey) yesterday with Nagel and Clubb, and we found some really nice vis starting around 30 ft, and at 47 it was really good, but it started getting a little dark, so we didn't go deeper. I'd estimate 15+ ft vis at 40 to 50 ffw. Actually, some of the better I've seen at TR myself. Up shallow, there were some really bad areas, but that was just because there was a lot of activity up there. Once you get below 30, the temp is about 59, and the vis rocks! Since there's only one REAL entry point at Dewey right now, the best plan to find vis is to go off the steps and head straight out over the ledge. Once you descend over the ledge, past the muck, it's like somebody opens the blinds. Then just turn southwest, and stay deep. Lots of good diving there.

That's about how TR is in the normal times as well, except a light is really needed now.

Tenkiller has 2' viz down to 20'.....below 20' its lights out and 4'-6' viz.
Excellent time to work on navigation and night diving in the middle of the day!

Yep, a light would have been really nice. I don't know why I didn't think to bring one.

Let's face it!
It's never going to stop raining!
So grab your gear. Especially your dive light.
And let's make the best of it!

We're diving at Dewey Thursday, so if you want to come out and join us let me know. There really is some decent diving right now. If you want to go past 50, bring a light. Otherwise, it's really not needed.

Oh hell yeah, I'll take the blame! I'll tell ya the truth....After you guys left my place Saturday night, I went out there for a little midnight dive. I took a broom around the whole lake and just stirred the crap out of it. I wanted to see if you guys were really "muck" divers.

Have you been coming to our Okie lakes too?

This same thing happened in 1963, and in 1986.

Heck, it was way worse in 1986. Both the Kaw Dam, and the Keystone dam almost broke in 1986.

It's called the carbon cycle.

Global warming, my Aunt Fanny.

From what I hear, they don't need my help!
