View Full Version : Picture of the Day...

JahJahwarrior

Pretty simple concept: post a picture a day.

-Pictures need to be yours, don't go google a picture to post.
-Pictures need to not contain anything obscene that would go against board rules
-Please host them somewhere and either link here to a decent sized version, or downsize before you upload. Don't post anything that we have to scroll sideways to view.
-Try to keep chatting to a minimum. This is mainly a thread for photographers to post up one picture a day. You can leave comments, but...a picture is worth a thousand words! (just only one per person per day!)
-Post info with picture, such as
Camera:
ISO:
Aperture:
Lens:
Location:
Date:
Editing done:

Just remember, ONE A DAY! :) It's not a thread for you to showcase every shot from the past week, unless you want to do it slowly, posting one picture a day. I'm just saying this alot because alot of people want to post two a day, or three a day, and it's the picture (notice the lack of an 's') of the day thread, not the two pictures of the day thread.

note: to show pictures here, you can right click on the hosted file, and select "copy image location." In the thread here, paste that and surround it with image tags, "" Tags are in quotations because the forum tries to display an image otherwise :) Remove the quotes when you post your image. If you use the picture button at the top of your post, when you are posting, you can specify size, this is what you want to use if the image is very lage, so you can tell it to display it at a smaller size.

Hosts: There are many places that will host your pictures. I have had decent luck with www.imageshack.us, but it takes a while and doesn't always work. I use Flickr now. Takes just a few minutes to set up, and it's completely free. Other hosts are pbase.com, photobucket.com, smugmug.com, etc.

Do you have any data to go with the shot? :) The photographer part of me wants to know camera, ISO, lens, exposure, etc, but I think most people would behappy with a date and a location.

Nice shot though, btw!

Hey...I dove Table Rock about a month ago while on vacation. It was a neat dive (poverty point or something like that), but it was cool. No...it was FREAKING FREEZING!!! At 80', one of the computers in our group registered 48 degrees!!! We were in 3 mil suits!

You may not believe this, but this was taken with my Sea And SEA DX3000

and earlier version of this
http://www.scubatoys.com/store/detail.asp?product_id=DX8000G

when it was ony 3.2 MP. The date was so long ago I dont remember (Im guessing 2003) in Cozumel.

I took this, in Grand Cayman, in August of '06, with a cheap underwater digital camera. I think it's a Pixtreme PX-2. It's 3.2 MP and is basically a low-quality digital camera with a nice waterproof housing. It supposedly good to 125' I took it to 111', and had no problems. This was the first time I took underwater pics.

You may want to host your image on a site like http://imageshack.us/ and then copy the URL that they give you. Once you go to post a message on this board click on the little picture icon at the top that looks like a green tree and paste the URL in the "Image URL" section.

This is just a little thing me and my friend built out at the lake. We dug the holes in 2 hours, dragged the logs ourselves, and bult the sign by hand. It even has a nice little bench too, but the best part is the view.

A friend's wedding. The gal is decently beautiful, methinks. The entire wedding I was taking pictures not so much because I really wanted to, but because I needed something to take my mind off of how jealous I was :) Nah, I'm happy for them, they are both good friends of mine, and I really do enjoy taking wedding pictures. I'd better, because when classes start in the fall, Iw ill have photographed something like 8 weddings?!?

<div>you guys should give a link a larger image so I can use a few for a computer background.</div>

good idea. One thing you can do it email a user and ask for a hi-res image. Using flickr, you can use the URL tool to give a clickable URL to a large image (or EXIF data) and in the space given to type the text that shows up, you can use image tags to display a thumbnail. To do this:
{url=typeintheurlhere}{img}typehtimagelocationurlh ere{/img}{/url}
except replace the curly brackets with straight ones.

For example, click on this image:
http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1131/689838997_bde392fa85.jpg (http://www.flickr.com/photo_zoom.gne?id=689838997&size=l)

On another forum I participate in, people often link to the EXIF data rather than posting it. Iusually post it, as my manual glass doesn't show up in EXIF, so I have to tell you aperture by memory. But, you can click the photo below to get EXIF. I simply changed the URL to the Exif data page, rather than a large photo download page.
