View Full Version : "City of Richmond" dive report

I dove the "The City of Richmond" last week with Express out of Myrles Inlet SC. The boat was very large and comfortable, and the crew was top notch. The dives themselves were pretty decent, with a surprising number of tropicals (Queen Angles, Scrawled Cowfish). We were also surrounded by the largest barracuda that I have ever seen probably 6' to 7' long and upwards of 70lbs. The spearfishing however was disappointing, all I got were a few spades and I was too scared to tackle the Barracudas with a pole spear. Overall a great experience though and an excellent dive operator.

How was the vis? Last time we were out with them, the vis was no more than 5 feet. I'm hoping it'll improve before we go again. Great op though.

The viz was about 30 feet on the first dive and about 20 on the second. Overall not bad, I think that you must have been out on a really bad day, I've dove several times out of the Myrtle Beach area, and the viz has always been at least 15 feet.

I certainly hope so. Low viz diving is not my favorite, though I'll do it in a pinch to get wet. Hopefully we'll make it back out that way this month. Itching to be back in the ocean.

I dove a site called 3 mile out of North Myrtle, not too long ago. That site was only about 2 miles from shore, and even there the viz was about 15 feet.

We were at 10 mile and the vis was 3-5 feet at best. My first dive in that area, but I'll give it a shot again.
