I have over 12,000 or so teeth at this point so I get tired of even sorting the little ones...

Do you use the teeth for anything?

12,000???? Wow...

Sounds like it's time to activate that eBay account of yours. You may wish to offer them for sale on a few dive sites and through souvenir shops.

Might be a nice little chunk of change to pay for the diving. Imagine selling even the smallest at $1 each.

That's really cool jeepbrew! Thanks for sharing the pics! One of the members, Timeliner, is also a fossil guy. He's on SB a lot more than he is on ST though.

To be honest, selling them has never really crossed my mind; however, that's not a bad idea. I will look into it if I ever have some free time... although my other hobby (wakeboarding) takes up most of my free time since I live on a lake...

How much for a medum sized shark tooth? I would be very interested in one or two of them for sure! PM me with a price.

I did 4 tooth dives in Venice last summer. It was fun as hell. You get "tooth fever" while you are out there, wanting to dive over and over to get those black little buggas...

I have three meg teeth, one of which is in good shape.

I can't remember the last dive when I didn't find at least 200 teeth per dive (per tank). I typically dive with Florida West Scuba. Sometimes I shore dive though...

I want to get in a fossil dive when I get home. I found several nice teeth an dlots of tiny ones just wading in the Venice surf several years ago. I was metal detecting, and found for shark teeth in my scoop than money or jewelry. Of course, that was the year before I got into scuba or I would have been out diving. I remember the water was really clear that day I went down there. Funny how the world becomes all about aspects of diving after you get certified.

I would love to get a Megaladon tooth for my nephew, he is obsessed with that type of thing. If you would like to sell one, PM me.

Those are great finds... Do you dive in Venice often? I live about 20 minutes from Venice and looking to do some dives with someone if you are interested.

I think is against policy on Ebay to sell animal parts. On some pacific islands they used to wrestle with a clove mage from coconut material and attached sharky teeth to the ringers and palm. The object of the battle was to disembowel your foe, obviously before the advent of christianity but is is well documented in William Mariners account of the Tongan Islands. You could try and get the sport going again.

Sorry to dig this post up from the grave, but I just logged into the ST forum and I had been hit up with 15 PMs from people wanting to buy Meg teeth. I honestly don't really care to sell any, but I understand how neat it is to have some of your own, so I would be willing to sell a few to those who won't have the opportunity to find any. One problem, however, is that my teeth are at my lakehouse and it may be a few weeks before I go back there (I live there in the summer... now that it is cooler, I am not there as often). I apologize, but I am swamped right now at work anyway. I will be diving in Venice in a few weeks and I will get my collection out after that trip and try to help a few of you out. Just be patient...

The collection of 12k? I am not sure how many dives w/o looking at my log book, but I started fossil diving in May of 2006.

Nice collection. Is there a particular area that is better than others for finding them? Or do more come up after a big storm?

As far as one area being better than other... I am sure that is the case; however, I don't know where. When I shore dive I always dive at the end of Alhambra St. And yes, I would also assume more teeth are turned up during big storms and they would be easier to find after everything settles in the water. Unfortunately I live 10 hours away in Birmingham, AL so I don't get to hop in the water after every storm. :smiley5:

Quite an impressive collection you've got there. Could you please shoot me some basic info about Venice in your spare time, and at the very least, start a new thread when you decide to sell these babies, I'm a big fan of sharks.

In the short time I've been a member here, it's quite easy to see that although we're nearly 8,000 members strong, it's a tight-niche community and I'm sure you will do very well if, and when you decide to sell them.

Thanks for sharing the pics and info, and be safe.

My wife does FX and some of those teeth would be great for being part of the piece. usually she makes them from sculpy.
I make jewelry. i can picture one set with a nice emerald or ruby freeform.
