Oh, man - this is tough! I've been to Chicago and had 2 kinds there - loved it. Been to NY and I love thin crust there. My fave is local - a little Italian-owned eatery has great pizza - NY style. Meat toppings and olives. I'm a carnivore, not a rabbit.

You NY'ers are nuts. How 'bout I send you a box of crackers and some tomatoe sauce. Same thing. :smilie39: Just Kidding, but it's close. :smiley11:

REAL pizza? Giordano's in Chicago. Best pizza in the world! :smiley20:

Sadly we have no real pizza in my town. I have my choice of pizza hut, dominos, papa johns and little ceasars. Of those, I like papa J's the best, with LC in close second.

Dang I'm hungry. I hate dieting. :smiley19:

Pineapple is not a pizza topping, and has no business being outside of a fruit salad,

I like thick crust, IE deep pan Vegetarian style with hamburger added. That order always gets raised eyebrows and I've even been told I can't add hamburger to a vegetarian pizza. I've had some good laughs over that. They seem to think a vegetarian pizza is sacred.

The best pizza I ever had was in Taos, NM at a place called Outback Pizza. They use all natural ingredients (alot of it locally grown), including the wheat pizza flour. It was a good 10 years ago and I can't remember what I got, but it was awesome.

Nowadays, I'm a thin-crust pepperoni + jalapeno guy. I do like to switch it up sometimes though with a canadian bacon + green olive pizza from Campisi's.

Pizzeria La Sirena in Pozzuoli...near bella Napoli...

Pizza Margherita cooked in a wood-fired oven, with an ice-cold Peroni...ahh.....

But, I digress.

If it must be American pizza...then it's NY style all the way!!!

Oh and just to clarify. New York pizza usually comes in two flavors. Neapolitan (like in Naples), and Sicilian (like in Sicily).

If it's from a truly good standard thin crust pizza joint, you can just get a cheese pizza, and it will be heaven. No need to dilute the masterpiece with toppings.

in coconut grove... in miami... there is a place called '' NEW YORK ROMA PIZZA"
the best you can buy!!! so good.
but the best pizza is my dad's family secret recipe (italians)
it's made in a pan (not oven) and the crust is so thin, rolled out by hand, and never round!!
oh so good!!

and in Brasil, alot of places are very good, and very cheap! great thin crust, not like that pizza hut tortilla chip they call thin crust.
what im talking about is thin, but flavorful, and crispy... all made in wood burning ovens . i miss it so much.
4 cheeses or mozzarella with a layer of garlic over it!!!

We just had a place open up here in OKC who's owner is from Brooklyn. I haven't tried it yet, but another friend of mine from Long Island says it's kosher. Though I hear you about finding good pizza. These chain pizza places here are absolutely terrible

well, that's a topic of debate around here, but I would say you can't go wrong if you go to one or all of these: Tony Luke's, Pat's or Geno's. Best thing to do is try them all.

If you happen to be on South St., then it would be Jim's.

then there's also Dallessandro's out in Roxborough.....

All those names are crap. I grew up in Chicago, never heard of Chicago style 'til I move to Texas. We had (in Chicago) thin crust from a little Italian place (Roberto's) near our house, now everybody thinks of thin crust as new? Go figure, been eating that for 40 years. Now stuffed pizza, oh yea that was new 30 years ago. Oh well, life goes in circles. Best kind is lots of meat, black olives and onions.

Yankee nailed it.

Great Pizza does not need to be loaded up with garbage. Too much crap and you've lost the pizza. Onions or mushrooms or another veggie goes well with a great pizza. As for meat, sliced italian sausage works. (NOT CRUMBLED)
Pepperoni usually hides the taste of the pizza. Some pizzas need to have the taste smothered.:smiley36:

I grew up in Queens and on Long Island. No better Pizza in the world than New York pizza. Worst pizza I have ever had was in Indiana. Nevada was really bad too.
I now live in South east Florida. There are so many NYC transplants here I have been able to find a couple of good pizza places.
Unfortunately, they are not just right though. People say you need the NY water for the dough, just like the bagels.

hey good pizza is when the next morning you open the box up and grab a bite and it still taste good. and the grease on the bottom on the box from the cheese the more the better cheese. of course that leaves puka johns and dorkonimis out
