what's a good dive site near Irvine CA (Orange County)? Any recommendations?

thanks

Check out this page: http://www.californiadiveboats.com/ . It lists a lot of the boats in California. You'd probably want to catch one out of Long Beach, San Pedro or Dana Point/Laguna Beach.

I'd love to meet you for a dive that day, but unfortunately I'll have to work.

There's a good deal of shore diving near Newport. Laguna Beach (10 minute drive) offers sites with fairly easy access and a variety of structure and things to see. This time of year can be a bit crowded but its worth it.

Take a look at the website for Laguna Sea Sports (http://www.lagunaseasports.com/), a local dive shop, which has information on the area.

I was also going to recommend Laguna Beach. There are several excellent dive sites and the beach is diver-friendly. There are some steep walkways to climb to/from the sand, but they are paved, with showers at the base of the walkways.

I dove Laguna beach the last time I was in CA it was fun. However, I will be out in October and am thinking about Catalina. Can anybody stear me to info on the dive park?

If you decide for Laguna Beach, plenty of people are diving it during the week-ends.

You could hook-up with the SCD gang (http://www.southcoastdivers.com/) or ask Gordi at http://www.lagunaseasports.com/ for a more private discovery tour, or .... just go down to Shaw's cove and yell ... "anyone wants to buddy up with me"?

I was going to suggest South Coast Divers as well. They meet up every Saturday, and then go diving in Laguna. I haven't gone with them yet, but from what I hear, they are a nice bunch of people. And its not at all uncommon to have new members join in (so don't feel shy :) )

Laguna Beach has quite a few sites. You can check out this website too: http://www.southcoastdivers.com/SOCDC/dcdsites.shtml

thanks!

You r problem is that the 5th is a weekday and some people have jobs that require then to work weekdays. But some don't

I'll be diving Friday night maybe 9:00pm. You are welcome to come along. I'll be hunting lobster up in Los Angeles County. A bit of a drive for you.
