I am looking for some good sites to shore dive/boat dive on long island, NY. I am new and would appreciate some review, directions, and any other information that anyone could provide. I have access to a private boat, and am not really interested in charter diving yet.

Thank you everyone!

I did a quick search & came up with this...

Long Island Dive Sites (http://www.longislanddiving.com/long-island-new-york-scuba-diving-links-dive-sites.html)

In the box all the way to the right, there is a link to directions to beach dive sites...

Hope this helps!

Take care & dive safe,

C

EDIT: of course the link doesn't work... go figure... sorry... Maybe there will be some leads there at least?

Here's a start...

Scuba Diving - New Jersey & Long Island New York - dive Wreck Valley - Dive Sites - Long Island - Coast Chart (http://njscuba.net/sites/chart_li-0_coast.html)

Then...

LI West Scuba Diving - New Jersey & Long Island New York - dive Wreck Valley - Dive Sites - Long Island - West Chart (http://njscuba.net/sites/chart_li-1_west.html)

LI East Scuba Diving - New Jersey & Long Island New York - dive Wreck Valley - Dive Sites - Long Island - East Chart (http://njscuba.net/sites/chart_li-2_east.html)

Some of those links do work, I had to sort through the crapola if you know what I mean...

Geez, I can't believe the amount of wrecks just off shore there... What were you guys doing? Pulling the plug on the channel marker lights???

That njscuba.net site doesn't give any detail as to how to get to them, but at least you have names to google...

I am diving with my regular dive buddy on tuesday morning, 9/16/08, if anyone is interested.

We usually dive out of Cedar Beach in Mount Sinai, and will probably do it again this time.

High tide is around noon that day for that location.

Typically we do a dive just before high tides as tide is coming in, surface for lunch, and then do second tank. This time may be different due to the later high tide time.

email me if you are interested in comming down, I will give you directions if you need them.
