Yeah, well, you know...well...it's...well, you know. PADI needs the money.

If you are smart, make multiple copies of both your C card and your inside passport page and stick one copy in all of your bags.

Wow that is a lot of money. My picture on my card is looking a little tattered

The price is probably due to the time involved in varifying the certification. That would be my guess.

Wouldn't you think they'd have a database with your picture? Seems they could just print another card. I think they realize that you don't have any choice.

My wallet was stolen last year with one of my C-cards in it. I contacted PADI and explained and they sent me a replacement for free without me having to send them another photo. It arrived in a couple of days.

If you did your c-card electronically, I'd assume they have it in their databases. In the old days, we had to send pictures that were laminated to the back of the card.

PADI and NAUI are businesses, they make money from various places including replacement c-cards.

You have to pay the full amount even if you return the old card, as in a name change. I am not too fond of it all. I paid for a new card to dive to take my AOW in which I got a new card afterwards. I understand why, but I still think it is a waste of $$

SSI replacement cards are $40. But you can get a dup for $10 extra

So for $50 you can get two cards.
