I was wondering if anyone has used both the Black Tusa Xpert Zooms (which are supposed to be made of a stiffer compound) and the Apollo Bio Fin XTs and could share how they compared to each other.

Also, I was wondering if anyone could, based on experience, compare either of those two fins (or both) to the regular Xpert Zooms. I have used those and that would probably be the most useful information for me (e.g. in terms of length, width, stiffness, performance, etc.). Thank you in advance, cheers.

I have both and can't tell the difference really.

I've used both black Zooms and red (my buddies'), and couldn't really tell the difference.

I have not used the split fin bt have heard that they don't perform well in current. I have http://www.scubatoys.com/store/detail.asp?product_id=SF6
and they are a little wide on my feet. However I have narrow feet. I have strong legs so I don't mind how stiff they are. Sometimes in cold water I get a little foot cramp but nothing bad. I think I just need thicker boots. I don't kno wif this will help but at least its feedback on tusa fins.

So split fins are bad?

I have the regular Zooms and love them. I don't think splits are bad at all. I'm not doing anything technical so the modified flutter works for my diving. You can do alternate kicks with the splits, they just aren't as effective as with the standard fins....

I had ankle surgery a few years ago.
Split fins are great for me - a little less stress on the ankles, but still good propulsion!

I dive both split fins and paddle fins, including Jets.
My Apollos are preferred for currents.

I suppose I am wrong. Maybe I'll add a split fin sometime soon and check it out. I have been proved incorrect. My bad.

A couple things. When you use split fins, it does not feel like they are responding. They are split after all and don't push the water like a paddles does.
In truth it does take a few kicks to get the propulsion thing going.
Also, wide kicks don't work so well.
