View Full Version : What happened to the map for Dutch Springs?

Does anyone have a map of Dutch Springs? There used to be a handmade map of DS that showed all of the sites, depths, compass headings, fin cycles etc. I think it was on Wreckvalley.com. It doesn't appear to be there anymore. Anyone have this map? I know there is a card you can buy and there is also a less detailed map on the website, but the handmade one was better.

Thor, I've attached one that I've had on my computer for a while. I'm guessing it's from the Dutch Springs website (and that it may be the less detailed one you were referring to), but I honestly can't remember. Hope it helps, cheers.

Thanks folks. Unfortunately those are the standard maps. I'm talking about a hand drawn map. Maybe somebody pulled it.

If this turns up, let me know. I'd love a copy of this, as the slate is way off. The map on the website is a little better.

The last two times I went to DS the shop was out of slate maps.
That aside, It would be great to have compass bearings between the untetheres sites.

I could have sworn I saw the bearings map in the gift shop a few weeks ago.... Well, if you head over to Lehigh Valley dive center (right down the street from DS), they have the maps you're looking for. I saw them in there when I picked up my drysuit undies.

I to would enjoy getting a hold of that. My last dive we tried to go from the hell diver to the helicopter and swam right past it. Boy did that make for a very long surface swim back to the student area. Its a 3.5hr ride from door to door and a LOT of tolls and I think this place is great.

Just sent an e-mail to the Lehigh Valley Dive Center

Hey, let us know if you get the maps with the bearing and what not.. I would consider sending for them to mail to me.

I have not gotten an e-mail back from them yet. Anyone else have any luck!

Thor and others,

I re posted Thor's question a few other places and look what I got. Check out the attachment. Its not complete but if you follow this link: Wreck Valley Divers :: View topic - Unofficial Dutch Springs Map (http://www.wreckvalley.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=369) you may be able to help a few people complete one.

Sorry for the size...

I started working on this, and if anyone wants to add to it, feel free. I need to di up my slate from the last trip for my headings.

As it stands now:

1: Cessna
2: Crane
3: Helicopter
4: Silver Comet
5: Unamed boat
6: Trolley

Green lines: Guide lines
White squares: Platforms

More will be added when I nail down more precise locations. Trolley looks off to me at the moment. :smiley13:

Are you coming from VT to dive here? If so how long of a trip is that?

I was thinking about this whole map thing. Does every site have its own Ball or marker of some kind? If so how about GPS? There are plenty of waterproof ones out on the market or even one in a dry bag. Just do a few surface swims take the mark and move on. If there is no marker ball you could always do a dive right to it and have a buddy at the surface enter the mark in the GPS. Once there you could download the marks into google earth and I would think compass headings would be a snap. Wish I lived a lot closer I would do it. Maybe after my honeymoon I can take a day or two before the season is over, or wait till next season.

We come down 2 or 3 times a year. We live near the Canadian border, and it's about a 7 hour ride down. :)

Usually come down on a Wednesday or Thursday, and stay through Sunday.

We've made our last trip for the year down, so next springtime sometime.

We've hit everything in the main quarry, except the 6x6 and van. The pump house side we need to hit as well, during our first trip.

Anyone do any more work on this?

The only maps that we have is the one on our website and our dive slate (available now in the gift shop). The map you all are refering to must have been done by someone else.
