Let's have a little fun and learn something while doing it.

The attached is a photograph of a divers behaving badly.

My little contest is 3 fold.

1. The first person who can tell us what bad thing is happening will receive a snorkel keeper. (2nd attached photo).

2. I will also award a snorkel keeper to the most foolish response :smiley21:.

3. Finally, the first person to find Waldo :smiley36:,will recieve a snorkel keeper as well.

I am making a little light of this, but it could have ended badly. (I am serious about the snorkel keepers though :smiley20:)

After some careful deliberation and if allowed, I'll give it another shot. If you look at the two at the top, they are holding hands and their body position makes an "I". Now look at the diver down from them and notice his body position makes a backwards "4". This is critical to note as it makes an "I 4" code. So your asking yourself what's an "I 4"? Well, it's to see with silly!:smiley36: The guy at the bottom right is laughing so hard at my joke, I think he wet himself! :smilie39:

Do you blame Ronald McDonald whenever you get a bad hamburger?

Within hours of the bridge collapsing in Minnesota, the liberals were blaming George Bush. How absolutely absurd, which is but one of a million instances that proves my point.

Who knows, maybe someday all the liberals will get over the Gore AND Kerry defeats and stop crying.

This picture shows the 2005 Championship match from the now defunct Thumb Wrestling Federation, TWF. (Look it up on wikipedia if you don’t believe me.) The two divers locked in the digit death match is none other than Terry Thumbkin and Opposable O’doyle. The match was held underwater that year because of the 2004 Championship cage match that left Barry Harry-Knuckle paralyzed. He was pushed between the cage and remained stuck for 3 hours before the thumbs of life were able to pry him free. Although it seemed like a freak accident, TGH (Thumb Growth Hormone) was suspected to play a part.

Now the diver holding the belt is an unnamed TWF official. However, it’s not a weight belt, it’s the TWF Championship Belt. The main part of the belt is made from 100% toe jam, but the clasps are made from ground and compressed thumbnails from previous Champions.

As previously mentioned, Waldo is the guy taking the picture. However, it’s not the Waldo you all think. It’s Waldo “The Hitcher” Watkins, a former wrestler. He no longer is allowed to wrestle because of a felony he was convicted of. It occured on one of his many hitchhiking escapades at shady rest stops. George Michael, was also charged that night, but not convicted. Photo documenting the matches is a last ditch effort to stay close to the sport he loves.

Finally, the guy in the bottom right corner is Matty Metacarpal, Terry Thumbkin’s manager. He was placed under thumb arrest for trying to fish hook O’doyle while the ref wasn’t looking. If you look closely, you can see the Chinese finger trap that was specially redesigned for thumbs by the Chinese government and the TWF.

Being this was 2005, everyone knows Opposable O’doyle won the match. He retired shortly after due to a bad case of carpal tunnel syndrome. Since the TWF folded, fans were left sucking their thumbs thinking about the good times and wishing congress had never mandated TGH testing.

O’doyle Rules! :smiley20:

My oddball guess is that the surf is to foamy for the depth of water. It doesn't do that unless your either in a really big storm or fairly shallow water. If i remember my surfing classes the swell has to be as tall as the depth is to foam like that and that lower dive is at least 15 feet down so either stupid divers or photoshop.

OK. Here is the story.

The guy with the "weight belt" is actually holding a DSMB he was getting ready to shoot. He is a dive guide on one of the charters and was escorting a group up from 90ft. Included in the group were the 2 divers who got in trouble.
The diver on the surface was wearing a brand new wetsuit and 100 cf aluminum tank. I can't recall how thick the suit was, but I noted it was way too much for the 82-86 degrees we would encounter in the water. He was an air diver and his buddy was nitrox in a skin.
The air diver was able to get down no problem at the beginning of the dive, but was unable to slow his ascent when his cylinder was almost empty. (The swing on the Aluminum 100's is about 8 #.)
The guy took his buddy with him from about 40 ft to the surface. The dive guide bolted to get them down to safety stop depths because the air diver was so close to his NDL).

On a serious note, I am sometimes dismayed by the pictures that show up in diving magazines. I have written to the editors of a few when they cross the line between showcasing the fun aspects of diving with dangerous practices. Case in point - A photo appeared in a magazine that showed 3 young men all entering the water at the same time. This alone is a dangerous thing to do, but on top of that, none was looking at the spot in the water where they would enter and of the 3, only one was holding his regulator in his mouth. None had a grip on their mask or weight belt and the combination of things was too much to ignore. Alas, I never received a reply to that email or saw a correction printed. Am I making too much of this, or do we all have a duty to report photos that show unsafe practices?
