After searching around for quite a while to find an inexpensive camera, I found a good deal on Ebay on an Olympus C-5000 camera for $135 or so.

Now I'm bidding on the underwater housing, which it looks like I can pick up pretty inexpensively. I did check, and the housing is rated to 135 feet, so it will suit my purposes for rec. diving.

Although the camera is only a 5 mp camera, I just bought a 6 for land use, so I didn't go top-of-the-line there. My last camera was a trooper, lasting 3 years of SE Asia plus a bit of Arizona, but I still didn't see the point of spending a heap of money for the best of the best when the last one didn't live so long.

I think it will suit my purposes for now. If I ever decided to soup it up, I may be able to add an external strobe or something. I'll have to look at it more closely.

So I did pretty well on adding funds to the $125 it would have required to rent a camera for the week. Sorry, Joe & Larry, for taking food from your tables, but I know there will be other purchases :smiley20:

Oh too bad, I just saw this. Nope, I won the auction. I got everything for $21.50 shipped, from Olympus.

You wouldn't have any accessories for the housing, though, would you? Another O-ring, perhaps?

BTW, I got everything in the mail today, so looking forward to making a test run and posting some initial photos.

edit: nevermind...for some reason I was confusing the PT-019 with the PT-015.
