Anybody have suggestions as to what to do when there is not a lense caddy in the market for your lenses? I got a sea and sea macro and wide angle lenses and is a pain faving to store one in a pocket or choose which one is coming with you. Sea and Sea does not make a caddy for this particular lense (for MPK-WD case for Sony). Any ideas? Would hate to go back to the boat and notice my wide angle lense missing :smiley13:

I would make a tie knot around my lens using fish wire or metal wire. It is a bummer that there is no lens caddy for the sea & sea lens, but do some research, you'll find some work around it. :)

I thought about buying an adapter that has the bayonet and adapting it somehow but at almost $70 seems a little high...

Perhaps make a little mesh bag that you can attach to the camera somehow?

The Sealife lens a buddy has came with a little neoprene lens cover that cover the whole thing and cinches down with elastic to hold it in. Then it has a loop sewn on it and it clips onto the existing lanyard. You might be able to get clever with a little bag with bungee closure (so you need to stretch it to pull out the lens). I don't know if I explained that particularly well.

Have thought about that solution, however the problem comes with what do I do with the lense Im taking out, it will probably not going to fit the same bag and I would have to go through the process of putting it into the bag. Seems to me that solution would be good for carrying 1 lens and switching between lense or no lense. Thanks for the suggestion though... Good to see all the ideas that have run through my head are not that crazy...

My dyslexia is acting up again. Every time that I scan the "New Posts" I keep reading this as Lens Candy.

So here is some lens candy for you.

What is the model #'s of your Sea & Sea lenses? Have you contacting the company?
I am not fimiliar with this Sony case, is the conection threaded, bayonet or snap-on?

Yes I contacted them. The lenses were specially designed for the Sony MPK-WD housing and are bayonet style. The lenses screw to a bayonet adapter to fit in the sea and sea base that connects to the case. Sea and Sea has no plans of making a caddy for these, at least not that they know.

I believe I have an answer for you. It appears the close up lens is the same as the one I have for my DX-1G witch is threaded (46mm) so it would screw on the lens adapter or it use the lens ring adapter like below...

http://www.seaandsea.jp/products/digital/dx1g/img/acce_closeup_ring.jpghttp://www.seaandsea.jp/img/white.gifClose-UP Lens Ring
(Product No. 58119) A set-up ring to attach the Close-UP Lens 125 to the DX-1G housing

If this is true it will fit the lens caddy sold for the DX-1G witch has a bayonet attachment. The ring has a loop on the side to attach a line to witch can be attached to your tray for insurance that the lens does not come loose and get dropped.

(Product No. 60104)

Not sure about the wide angle though. Is it threaded and needs the ring as well?

Let me know if this looks true or if you need more info............Hope this helps.

Yes the wide angle is also threaded. However the 1G bayonet and the one for the Sony MPK-WD is not the same. So if I were to screw the lense to the 1G adapter it would not fit my enclosure. I would have to unscrew it out of the adapter and screw it in the adapter in the housing. Is this what you had in mind?

I took one of my extra weight pockets, lined it with neoprene, sewed a ring onto it an clipped it to my BC. works like a charm..

If the bayonet configuration is different I can't see it working. I was hoping they would be the same but I have never seen the MPK-WD up close and was counting on the bayonet configuration matching witch would make it able to fit the caddy for the G1.

If this was true any threaded lens (46mm) like your wide angle and close up would fit the step up ring witch is threaded one one side and has the bayonet fitting on the other.

The lens adapter description states that it comes with a theaded/bayonet step up ring so I was hoping it was the same that is sold for the G1 because the close up lens is exactly the same so the threads have to match.

From the website: SONY MPK Accessories | SEA&SEA SUNPAK (http://www.seaandsea.jp/products/accessory/mpk/index.html)

http://www.seaandsea.jp/products/accessory/mpk/img/adapter_txt.gif
Adapter to attach to the Marine pack MPK-WD. Comes with a Set-Up Ring for mounting the Wide-Angle Conversion Lens 0.6x S or the Close-UP Lens 125 on the Marine pack MPK-WD. Can insert the Fiber-Optic Cable (L-type) into the connector socket.

So the close up lens (Close-UP Lens 125 Product No. 52119) is the same. If the step up ring (Close-UP Lens Ring Product No. 58119) is the same as well you are good. If not........ I guess I have got your hopes up for nada.:smiley5:

If this leads to nothing your best bet is to get inventive and try some of the origional suggestions above. Good luck!
