Any word on what Mares has up their sleeves for 2009?

I heard something about a carbon regulator, and an Abyss made for "extreme conditions"?

Yea, I saw it at Dema... Very cool looking, and light. Since they are owned by Head Sports - they have the technology for carbon fiber from the tennis racquet division, and they ported that over into the scuba division. We'll get some in as soon as they are shipping.

How is the word "Mares" pronounced?

No problem with "Zeagle"

Apart from the Carbon Fiber housings of the second stage, does the regulator provide any performance advantages or improvements? Apart from material changes, I haven't seen any changes in Mares regulators since the original MR22-Abyss (not knocking Mares, I've owned two Mares regulators).

I believe that Mares is prounced Mah-Res.

Well of course, it's Italian, and when I met the guys from Italy, they roll the R a bit... "Mah rrrrres" and it helps if you make that little hand gesture like the italian chef who just tasted his signature pasta dish. :smiley2:

Larry- I will be more than happy to be one of the tester/evaluators of the Carbon 42 at no cost to you - afterwards, can I purchase it at 50% off since it has been used? - DRg
