I am headed to Toronto for a family vacation next August. Any suggestions on dive sites/charters? What are the water temps that time of year? (I have a dry suit, but not looking to lug it all the way to Canada for one day or two of diving if at all possible). I have a some experience doing ocean dives >100ft here in NC, and am of intermediate experience (although several of my dive site experiences are considered "advanced site")

There are many great dive site in the Toronto area. Where abouts in T.O are you going to be means alot in drive time and distance. What i would recommend is this.

Do you use google earth? If so use there is a tool I use from the OUC ( Ontario Underwater Council).

Ontario Underwater Council (http://www.underwatercouncil.com/?action=cms&cmspage=dive-ontario)

This is a ship wreck directory you can download into google earth that will show you all dive sites and wrecks with listings of the many Charters and dive shops.. I would suggest for you to head out to either lake erie (Niagara) area or the Kingston area if your able to drive for some of the best wreck dives you will see. Visit this page and if you dont use google earth just let me know what area your visiting and I will get you the info i can. Maybe even hook up for a few dives with you.

Checked my dive logs and in Aug this year I did a dive in Kingston east of T.O surface temp was 74 C and at 70 feet 68 C. This is about average that time of year. Hope this helped.

A few other information sites for diving in Ontario:
Category:Ontario - DiveSpot (http://divespot.ca/index.php/Category:Ontario)
http://www.wikiscuba.com/wiki/index.php?title=Ontario
Ontario Scuba Diving (http://www.scubaq.ca/ontarioscubadiving/)
Ducks Dive - Main (http://www.ducksdive.com/index.htm)

Some great wreck dives along the St Lawrence. Just be prepared for visibility to be not so great during the later summer (20-40ft).
