Hi Everyone!

DW and I want to share with you some really cool ideas for the annual Winter dive at Oronogo on February 28th.

We are experiencing a great level of enthusiasm and excitement from everyone for this dive day. It looks like we have roughly 25 persons in attendance from no less than 7 states! With all the excitement that is building we wanted to let you know that we have been brainstorming some great ideas for this dive day!

Here is a little teaser for you:

DW and his daughter - LW are designing t-shirts to commemorate the event. T-shirts will be personalized and sold at the material costs per shirt only.
We will have several grills on hand and will be purchasing hamburgers and hotdogs to grille throughout the day. We are asking that everyone bring a dish to pass. Soda, plates, napkins, cups, utensils, buns, and condiments are also needed if you don't cook.
DW has contacted Joe at ST to tell him about the event. Joe was very excited and has offered to send DW some cool stuff to give away in our treasure hunt. That's right - we will have an underwater treasure hunt. It will be the first dive of the day, most likely around 12:30. Joe gave DW an idea of what some of the prizes may be - some cool products and ST logo stuff! Don't miss out on this! This is going to be a great dive day. Bring chairs and a dish to pass and plan on enjoying some great SI time between dives!

Check back in this forum for further information as the event nears. Once we are closer, DW will begin asking for t-shirt sizes. I believe the t-shirts will be personalized - the event information on the back and your ST User ID and state on the front in the pocket area.

Revised Pricing: DW will be collecting money for the grilling meat (divided by all in attendance) and t-shirts (at cost, no obligation to buy). You will be responsible for paying John at Oronogo for entrance fees ($12) and air fills.

If you have any ideas or suggestions, equipment to share (heaters, canopies, tents for changing), or can volunteer to grill food or help with the scavenger hunt - please PM DW or post here.

See you there!

DW, LW, and gNats

Sounds great, You can count on William & I for any help needed.
We can be there early in the morning to help with whatever needs taken care of & I will bring a tent with a tent heater for changing & what not.
We will also bring a couple of dishes, & I love the shirt idea.
We can also bring any Soda, plates, napkins, cups, utensils, buns, and condiments that are needed.
39 days & counting!!!

Jeff, Why don't I bring the cooler and we can fill it up with pop and gator aid?

I can cook, but will be coming from Wichita...

Hey, secret squirrel...

Did John agree to the $4 entry if 25 show? I thought that it was a $100 minimum to open, but if more than 8 or 9 people show up everyone pays the regular entrance fee.

I just want to know that was sorted out before anyone got upset.

BTW-Do you want me to bring my grill? And I sure hope to hit the water before 1230! LOL

Hey Dark Wolf, You better clarify this for us with John. Is it $100 and entrance fees, just the entrance fees, or just $100?

folks - The diving fee may be full price. We will post a clarifying thread if it is. Sorry for the confusion.

CRNA - I believe both DW and I are under the impression that it was a $100 to open period. But, let's let DW clarify. Thanks for catching this early. And, yes, please plan on bringing your grill.

As to the dive time, we can talk about that in chat. We want to make sure we hold the treasure hunt at a time when everyone driving in will be able to gear up and participate and still have time to do the prize exchange. Also taking into account the people who are only doing multiple dives instead of one dive.

A new thread has been created in the DDCN forum. Please indicate what dish you will bring (and any other odds and ends) in that thread.

Thanks everyone!

hello - okay some of the best plans look good on paper...

DW called John at Oronogo and CRNA is correct. Because of the expected turnout - the $12 entrance fees will be collected by John. Don't forget you will have to fill out waivers and such so make sure you have your proper credentials with you.

DW will be making t-shirts on a requested basis. He is still gathering the material costs, and he will post in the forum the price of the t-shirt. He is going to need your home state at that time.

Based on the headcount the day or so before, DW and LW will run to the market and pick up enough hamburgers and hotdogs for everyone to enjoy. The price of the meat will be equally divided by all of us. (If you are a vegan or vegetarian please let us know).

Hi all,

I was just pondering what dishes to bring to the big gathering & I was wondering if we will have access to electrial outlets?
I was thinking about bringing something I could keep warm in a crockpot, But I have never been to the Quarry in Oronogo & didn't know if I could do this or if i need to bring something else?

Thanks Frank

DW or Diving CRNA know more than I, but I know there isn't any power to the south of the trail-where folks park. At least there's no power that I know of...

There may be some in the pool building, but the only outlets I can think of off hand are in the shop itself.

I have a generator and AC adapters for my truck.... Neither is probably suitable for a crockpot. Those suckers draw a lot for a truck outlet and a little for a generator.

No kidding. With all the thing's I still need to get, like my can light, I believe this is about mid way down my list. I still haven't decided between the VR3 or the Liquidvision so it just gives me time to look at Kevins and see what the advantages are between the two computers.
