Asthma is no longer an absolute contra-indication for diving. Diver Training magazine did an issue on it. DAN has it on their web-site. If it's controllable with mild meds, then there ought not ot be a problem.

There are many different types and severities of asthma.
My son, has allergy induced asthma. His allergist took the time to review his case and review the DAN literature on diving with asthma, before signing off on his diving.

I would recommend you discuss with your doctor, and if they do not understand the issues with diving and asthma, they either review the literature or you may need to find a doctor who can talk diving and asthma.

Good luck
