Ok, the first shirt is done! Let me know what you think. I have recieved feedback from a few members already.

If you are interested in a shirt, please include color of shirt, size, home state, and how many shirts you would like. Prices will be approximately $15. This is about what the materials cost me. Any extra will be put into the fund for the meats, etc for the 28th.

Thanks,

DW

What are the available color's going to be?

Dark Wolf
01-31-2009, 12:48
Pretty much whatever colors I can get at the store. Was gonna do mine on black, but not sure it will show well. Lighter colors are gonna show better. I am sure I can get red, white, grey, green, etc. Like I say, pretty much whatever you can get at Wal-mart. If there is a specific color, I am sure I can find it.

Maybe if the skulls bandana was blue or black or something it would work on red...

[QUOTE=Shhhh... I am trying to get Secret Squirrel to owe me.....[/QUOTE]

Man, some people......I was thinking I'd hang out on the shore and collect the fees along with my special cut!!!

Looks like I will be a shore person. Been kind of sick ever since I got back from my trip and I'm thinking that my boss is not going to look very kindly at my dive trips anymore if I just get well and then get sick from diving wet in 50 degree water. At this point, I'm just hoping to get well enough to even make it to shore sitting. Finally gave in and went to the doctor yesterday-I'm tired of everyone looking at me like I have the bird flu or something. My 16 yr old is so caring-he looked at me laying on the couch yesterday (I thought he was going to ask if there was anything I needed) and asked me if I was by chance going to wash some dishes.....of course being a good mom, I dragged myself into the kitchen and washed them. Admittedly, there are some occasions when being single sucks...

But on the bright side, I'll be available to visit with everyone's SO (hmmm, let me remember if there is anything anyone didn't want told to their SO, wife/girlfriend-yet another money making opportunity) and to hover over the food making sure it is done by taste testing!!!!

LW, how many days left!!!!????

50f is tolerable... You need a little time to get used to 45f or at least until you get numb. Hey, at least you can't get frost bit. :smiley36:

Layering helps a lot. This is one reason I like a Farner John over a one piece-extra layering in the core. The othe nice thing about a farmer is how the zipper is over a full layer of the suit so it doesn't make up for a lot of warm water loss. Is the colder water, prime your suit with warm water just before you hit the water-it helps a lot.

Dry suits are costly because they have to be totally sealed. The fabric has to be tough, tear and puncture resistant as well as 100% waterproof. The seal have to be tight enough to allow you to get it on ye loose enough to allow circulation to your head, hand and feet depending. In short, there's a lot more criticality to a dry suit so it will stay a dry suit.

Also to help keep warm, high carb/fat to protein ration is important as well as small but frequent snacks on while on a surface interval. And above all else-hydrate!

I bet if you double up on your hoodie, you will find it warmer too. Try a 3mm beanie with a 7mm hood. That is what I wear (okay, I am in a dry suit) and I find it really helps. And, trust me, I hate being cold. I complain walking from the house to the heated car in the winter.

My 3mm dident come with a hood, but its not a shorty!

the 3mm hood is seperate. It is more like a beanie than a full face hood. Many people wear them in warm water to help with getting cold.

I'm saying, wear the 3mm beaning under a 7mm normal hood, so that you have the greatest warmth protection on your head, where, what, 80% of your body heat is lost?

That will help keep you warmer feeling.

I have a 5mm Aqualung Hooded vest that fits the bill for Oronogo. The only time I have been cold there is when I was a support diver for a couple of guys doing the final dive of Deep Tec. Then, hanging around at 90' for 20 min in 48f water was a little cold. When we started back up and we were moving again, I was fine.

I use a 6.5mm Akona one piece for the main layer.

Ok - local regional joke coming:

Last summer, when our young hip hop mayor was being investigated for perjury, he was told by the judge not to leave the country or state without first notifying the courts.

He took an "emergency meeting" (meaning he only prescheduled it 1 week in advance) to Windsor one afternoon, and hey, guess what? A newpaper reporter followed him and reported that he left the Country without permission.

Prosecuting Attorney drags his butt into court and his response to the Judge:

I only went across the river. I didn't leave the Country.

Yep. And they voted for him (not me, I don't have voting rights in the City of Detroit).

So, um, yeah, according to the ex-Mayor of Detroit, and current parolee -

Canada is part of the US.
