It is a dive you earn... But its worth it. I do think I would just single tank it next time.

And a pic I like from the dive

Anyone been in Buford lately? What's the word on the Gator, Snake and Spider situation? I'm not afraid of a cavern, but spiders scare the hell out of me! Haha... :(

Are you cavern trained? This is no place for an open water diver to go diving!

what if you're taking an advanced open water class?

I have a cavern class planned for this year. As soon as we get 4 signed up. I plan to start cave training next summer. I don't intend on doing that dive prior to doing my cavern, but it looks like Winter is the time to do Buford. Although, as the surrounding water gets cold, I would bet the Gators get closer to the spring as it becomes the warmer water.

Lol *shakes head* just because one of the extremely irresponsible instructors in the area does it, or has done it doesn't make it right.

I'm with Rox. Though with a lot of pre-training (which would be the meat and potatoes of a cavern class to begin with) a cavern dive could be part of the AOW, though it would be the worst form of trust me dive out there...

after doing the cavern class, I would not recommend it for an AOW adventure dive. Just too much to do right up front to mitigatethe risks into what oucld be considered "acceptable".

140 on air in a cave isn't kosher for AOW classes? who knew?!?
