I have seen some interest already, so I thought that I would go ahead and create the thread to discuss this event.

So far, we are looking at the possibility of another treasure hunt. BBQ is a given, along with great dives. Fireworks the night of the 4th are in the planning stages and have already been approved by Captain Johns. I talked to Regina about this on March 1. We are looking to camp the nights of the 3rd and the 4th. I am also looking into having a raffle at some point that weekend. I will post more details about this as they become available. As soon as I get the shirts caught up from the 2-28 dive I will begin making the shirts for the July event. Maybe I will have enought time, and equipment will be more cooperative so that I can have them done on time!!!! :D

So, those are the very basics for what I am looking at putting together. Let me know what you all think.......

Riley, you could fly into Kansas City or Joplin. If you fly into KC, I am sure one of us would be more than willing to pick you up.

Ouch at between $450 and 500 r/t I am thinking its not going to happen this year so close you the newest DDCN's birth (june 18th due date). That said as with Dark Wolf's sentiment I might be able to convince Msilva to do a road trip with me in 2010! you come play in my lake i will come play in yours!

Now that sounds like an excellent idea, Riley!!! We need to set that up!

Fundraiser to bring the Vermont chapter of DDCN to Oronogo?

Dark Wolf

I think just a trade out. They come dive with us, then we go to Vermont to dive with them. Sounds like a great time!

Wheelman, the night dive is something that I have turned over in my mind. I really like the idea. I will talk to John and Regina about it and see what the stipulations may be. I will keep you posted.....

I like the way you think, wheelman. :)

If a night dive is proposed i suggest limiting depth for saftey and likely john will too. Is there a shallow area of the lake that would work for this 30-40 ft?

I think if the airplane was the depth limit it would be a safe enough dive. Someone could place chemlights on the bouy's and on the ascent lines for added safety (hopefully).

Great idea Medic.... DW pitch that Idea to John!

I agree, that is a great idea. I will be either talking to or e-mailing them today. I will suggest the idea and see what they think of it.

Honestly, I do not know why anyone would WANT to night dive there. No critters to come out at all.

Also, if you go deep enough in the day, you get night conditions, or so I hear...

Dark Wolf

That is funny CRNA, I hear the same thing about the depths during the day. Wouldn't know myself, but............................

I have to say that when we dove the other day, the vis was not very good starting at the very top. But after we had been down to 113 and started coming up, I was amazed how much I could see at 30-40 feet.

I had a chat with John last year on the night diving issue. He is very reluctant to allow night diving for two reasons: Insurance being one and divers gunknowingly getting into shafts was another. He related an incident where a couple of experienced divers did a night dive, found themselves in the doors and had a lot of probelms getting out as they could not see the light zone due to it being night.

The wife and me have to work on the 3rd but should be able to be there on the 4th and 5th. For that past 20 years we have attended car shows on those days but time for a change.

I already have the weekend off so I will definitely be there! Hopefully diving doubles too!!!! Yee Haa, only 116 days to go!!!

I've done night dives there in the past with advanced students. It cost a few bucks extra, first shelf only (basically the plane,) and of course other night requirements (markers etc.) It used to be we just had to get permission/notify John or Regina.

Although it really is just darker...Maybe one night...
