I was finally able to do my first night dive. My buddy and I dove with our Dive Instructor and dive master. I always wondered if I could do it. Walked in the water, turned on the flashlight and away we went. Although we were only in the lake, the experience was awesome:smiley20: We only saw a few fish, mostly little ones. We spent 47 min underwater. After the dive we blew up our air mattress and fell asleep under the stars. Woke up the next morning at 5 and did our longest dive to date. 57 min!!!!!! Life is good:clap:

Sounds like a fun time. But you can't leave us hanging, where did you dive, what were the conditions? The vis?

I dove in Lake Pleasant. The vis was about 10 ft. Which is good for this time of year I guess. I dove in a 7mil plus hood and vest cause I am a wuss:smiley5: Water was in the 70's but the thermocline was at 30 ft. I get cold easy thats why I wear a 7 mil. Finally got to use all my lights that I bought when I was doing my open water training. I know I am weird but I thought it was really cool seeing all my buddies lights floating by. My Dive instructor was wearing a blue light on his bc. I turned off my light to see what it looked like. I could still see all around with everybody elses lights. I am hoping to go back this friday!!!!

Again, sounds like you had a good time! That's what it's all about. Night dives have a coolness to them that you don't get during the day. Wait until you do a night dive in someplace with great vis like Coz. It's totally awesome! As far as wearing a 7mil: If it works for you, great! comfort is always important.

LOL, with 10 feet of viz, who needs night? Just kidding!

I think that's my favorite type of diving as well... and I agree with Navy once you do it in warm clear salt water you will be ruined for life :)

Wait 'till you do your first salt water night dive. It's even better.

Even better, a pre-dawn dive (especially, in salt water). Enter the water in the dark and let the sun come up during your dive. You can watch a whole reef wake up - totally awesome!!!!

I love night dives, you see completely different stuff then during the day. And will never forget my first night dive, it was something magical for me.
