tustin claifornia the name is Pacific wildernessVery close to Catalina Island.

After you're OW certed, grab the Catalina Express and head over to Catalina Diver Supply to dive at the Casino in Avalon. I just did that in May. It cost me $100 (that included the DM guided tour and rental gear (tank, 7mm farmer john). I had my own BP/W, etc. Make reservations first with the Express and Divers Supply.

The dive is easy with mild currents and lots to see among the kelp forests. You'll go to 65 feet (let the DM know you dive limits and experience level). It's a great intro to blue-water diving. There's a sunken boat as well; but, it's at 85 feet which is beyond OW limits.

shame you couldnt rope one of your friends to take the class with you, get the names and numbers of the people taking the class with you, after all they will be the same skill level as you and join a local dive club. Im sure you will never be shy of a buddy then.

Great advice! I wish I had done that. You can pick a great buddy that way that you have seen dive.

Start talking to your friends, eventually you'll find someone that always wanted to try but hasn't signed up for the class.

chewy congrats!!!!

Yeah, I definatly recommend getting the contact information of people in your dive class, it helps a ton when you want to spread your wings a bit.

When I signed up, I rushed home and studied my manual like crazy, it helps.

Also, if you haven't ever been in fins/etc. Go snorkeling in a pool if you can. I know it sounds silly but it helps you get used to the way they move so you don't kick off and launch yourself at other newbies :)

Yay Chewy!!!

You are hooked on diving and haven't done OW yet. Imagine what will happen when you get in the pool that first time!!!

Welcome to the obsession!

im so excited im going to go and pick up the books today and just read them for fun! am i wierd?

If you're weird, I'm a psycho! I read my book cover to cover in 1 day! I've paid for the class for my wife and I. Also, I put the down payment on a dive trip to Mexico for our cert dives. All this and I don't even have the classes scheduled yet!!! :smilie39:

Class is soooo fun especially with a small group! I learned more watching the dvd a few times than I did any time except 1 on 1 with the Instructor!
