That's used, not what was aval. LP 108's filled to 3900-
I'll let you do that math on aval gas for bottom mix:smiley2:

Here's a pretty good map of the place

I can imagine. Anyone have any idea how much all that weighed? I'm guessing no additional weight was needed.

Well the doubles and a SS plate are plenty for freshwater as is....I don't use any additional lead with my HP130's and drysuit combo. Stages can be a PITA....they're negative at the beginning of the dive, and can be so floaty near the end that they nearly roll you over sideways (remember, stages are usually breathed down to around 200-300psi on most cave dives).

I did the math...That's like 320 cu ft total (160 in each 108!!!!) That is some serious cubic footage. You have my respect and admiration.

When did they put the stairs in?
I dove Eagle's nest a long time ago and it didn't have stairs

I bet gas switching was REAL interesting.

That was my thought.

It's a snap-
Drop the O/2 at 30
Drop the 50 at 100
Drop the 30 or 32 at 130
At 190 Come off the air and switch to Back Gas and
drop the Air at 190/200

We don't swim the entire cave with all that on us. Also doing it that way we don't have a rich mix down in the depths. We may carry an extra 21% down to 250/260 with us on occasion.

I was kind of wondering that, but then again that's why you're the instructor and I'm the guy thinking "How does he do that?" :smiley20:

Hmmm. Time to bite the bullet and buy a rebreather :icon_eek:

Don't think that would help-
Still need bail-out gas in case of a CCR failure.
Just guessing here as I don't do breathers yet. I'd still need the same amount of gas ( -minus the back gas) to deco out that I had/have on O/C??

Depending on what a breather costs in Switzerland I may be switching over to an insprio in Sept.
Ohh, I think I forgot to make a post about that -- Moving to Switzerland in Sept...

Of course you don't swim into the cave with all that...mess. But I would pay money to see the gas switches as you ascend.

Those "custom mix" labels really clear everything up.

Honestly, I doubt its that significant.

I would guess:
95's - backgas
80's - air and 32
40 - 50/50
45 - o2 (I might have the 40/45's backwards)

The only concern would be the air vs 32 and there are a few tricks you can use with 2nd stages to make that distinction as well. That coupled to geting the 'spent' tanks slung out of the way as well to de-clutter the front.

Mind you - I have limited myself to 2 stages + 2 sidemounts and that was just screwing around in OW so I haven't done that type of config myself.

One other question for you TommyB: I notice on some of your stages that your have the SPG on a short hose but it's not zip tied to the first stage as most I've seen. Why is it you do it that way? In all honsety, I am curious about it. As far as how you do things, it works for you it ain't stupid. (Goes with my saying if it's stupid and it works, it ain't stupid. Of course if it works for me too, it's great!)

ETA: Have a great time in Schwies.

TommyB

If you're talking about those tanks with the SPG sticking straight up, those are TJ's sidemount tanks.
When horizonal, he can just glance at armpit area and read his back gas (SM tanks).

I don't tie my SPG's down to the 1st stage. (Yea I know not DIR) :)
I bungie it to the side of the tank, so that I can pull it lose and read it.
I hit the age where my arms are not long enough to read close up-- but can read junk a mile away--

and Adam --- CaveDiver aka (PfcAJ), go back over to cavediver.net and bother FW. Or if you have an issue with TJ, take it with him over there:)

What DIR?
I never said it did not work, Just don't need to be told by some 22 year old GUE fundi grad how to dive---
Just because he's now a "DIR practitioner" does not mean I have too. He can keep that BS thread hijacking over at scubaboard or TDS--

I Don't give a rat's behind what he is. (His profile at CDF says Naui Cave I / GUE Fundi)
He has 4 posts here, and 2 of those were in my topic about having fun at EN. And those 2 were snide little comments about it not being DIR etc. He can dive his way -- I'll dive my way.
