Great photos! Thank you!:smiley20:

When I get comfortable with my new (first) dry suit, I hope to dive the Sound.

Thanks for the comments on the photo's. The Puget Sound, Hood Canal and the San Juans are some of the best places to dive in the world! The waters not 80 degrees ( mid 40's winter, mid 50's summer) but the life is amazing!

Too cold?????? It starts to get a bit chilly in January or February. Right now the water temp is still in the low 50's!
Just slip on a nice, warm undergarment and a drysuit and it's like diving in the gulf, but with a lot more to see!

Hi everyone! I'm another North Western Tacoma WA..
I love to see the photo's others take. I'm still a novice, totally inspired!

Very nice. How did you get that Wolf Eel to smile?

Good photos!!! Makes me want to come up there and dive again. Only Been 15 years. Last time I dove the sound, I got a few good views of a giant octo before he blew a very big cloud of ink and took off. All the photo shows is a big black cloud.

If you have to ask, it's probably too cold. :smiley2:

The most cooperative wolf eels I've seen were in Victoria BC.

A small exchange today meant we could dive Sunrise in Gig Harbor this evening. Sunrise is an amazing wall dive just north of the Tacoma Narrows Bridge that is VERY current sensitive.
We did a 56 minute dive on the wall and had minimal current throughout.

I'm a private independant PADI certified instructor in North Seattle. I love to work one on one with people to get certification instead of putting them through a course with 10-12 other people.

let me know if you're interested when you're ready.

You can do most of the good dives from shore around here. If you're looking for air fills or rentals it would depend on where you're staying.
If you're in Seattle you can't go wrong with Underwater Sports for your fills and rentals.

Great color and contrast, I really like the small round fish (Lump Sucker?) in post #65 pics 2 and 3. I have only seen photos of these taken off the US West Coast, are they found anywhere else?

What lens did you use for the W/A under the pier in post #66? You have a lot of great photo oppertunities there...

Is that a seal carcass in post #70 pics 3?

CARDIVER
02-15-2012, 20:39
Thanks! That is a Spiny Pacific Lumpsucker and we see them around here between September and January for the most part.
The pier shot is with the kit lens and the stock port on the E- PL2 and that is a seal carcass, unfortunately....
