View Full Version : NiTek Duo download question?

08-27-2009, 22:23
I recently bought a Duo and have logged a few dives with it. I have been debating picking up a download cable and was wondering if anyone has used one. What features does the software offer? Profiles, SAC rate, easy to use?? Any advice would be appreciated. I've read this is basically the same computer as a Zeagle and Tusa so if you have info on those it may also help. I can't see spending the money if it is just going keep track of the same things as a paper log but if there are any additional applications I might be interested. Thanks in advance for your help.

I also use the DUO and download all my dives. Yes, the stupid cable is damned expensive, but I really like having the downloads. In fact, I stopped writing down my logs all together. I just print out my logs and file them in my dive binder.

The download shows a graph of your entire dive by depth and time. It also shows your N loading by time, water temps, dive times (start, finish, total minutes), average depth. There are places for you to make notes on gear used, tanks sizes, volumes, begin and end pressures (gives you SAC). You can go back look at the dives in any order (lenght, depth, place, etc)

Overall, I'm very glad I got mine.

Thanks for the info. It sound s like there are alot more bells and whistles than I thought. Did you get the software when you bought the cable or download it off the internet?

I got downloaded the software from the internet. It's technically not the "nitek" program, but it's the exact same thing from the same company. Look for the "apeks" software.

Now, I bought my download cable second hand so I don't know if it came with the software originally or not.

Straight from ST Website:

You may have noticed that the Archimedes computer (http://www.scubatoys.com/store/detail.asp?PRODUCT_ID=Cressi_Sub_Archimedes_Wrist) , and the Tusa IQ700 computer (http://www.scubatoys.com/store/detail.asp?PRODUCT_ID=IQ700), and the Dive Rite Nitek Duo (http://www.scubatoys.com/store/detail.asp?PRODUCT_ID=NiTekDuo) all look a lot alike. That's because they are all Seiko Computers. If you need a download cable, this is the guy! There is no software, as the software is available for download from several sites, and it updated often, but the software won't do you any good without the cable!
Found this on Dive Rite's website, they were catching real flack on SB.
