My wife and I are going to be heading to Orlando in Jan and I am looking for suggestions on a good place to dive. I am not 100% sure yet if I am going to have time for diving. I am going there for work, but I am going to try to get down there a few days early or stay a few days after. Just wondering if there is shore diving close that is worth it, and if not who would be good to get a charter with? We would probably need gear rental as well. I do not know if we will be able to bring all of our gear or not???

Thanks
Phil

sorry to say, except for a inland water area, your in the middle of the state. not too much close by stuff. for a "quick" get wet dive disney has dive quest.
as for east coast i can;t help, but i am on the west coast tampa area, but that is about hour or more depending on where in orlando you are coming from and traffic. on the west coast tarpon springs you can use

for some gulf diving, they are good ( my training dive shop) have there own boat no more than 6 people at a dive. so drop them a note.
calyspo divers in tampa is also good, but i haven't used them.

but also try divers direct (type that in your search engine) they have a store in orlando and may have contacts or trips that they provide transportation for. i know alot of groups from orlando go all over.

hope this helps, you can pm me and i can get some links if you need them

if you chartered through narcosis tell the i sent you
(rob b. narc boy ) inside joke

I'm not from Orlando, but will be there tomorrow for a week. ...sigh, no diving for me, but I did find this site that may help you. About halfway down the page is a list of sites and driving time from Orlando.

Pretty much your only option in Orlando is DiveQuest which is great fun!

There are many springs within an hour and a half or so from Orlando.

Fort pierce is about an hour..1.5 hours east and you can get decent shore dives from there..
