actually it was a night dive too, started at 530p and went to 1000p. the mermaids came out for some fun , have some more pictures of them without the fins.

yes very cool, the site where the park is with the mermaids has an opening at about 35-40 where the outflow is pretty strong. as you look down you can see the rope guide line for the start of these caves ( of course i didn;t go there not cave cert). also heard that you can go close to 400 ft now, because we had a drought and the outflow wasn;t that strong so divers could get in there. just happend this year. the best part the water is crystal clear and you really don't have to rise your dive gear .

well they offically announced that the record of the deepest part of the spring is 403ft at the bottom of mount doom. here is the report

they are seeing if it is the deepest on record for a tunnel connected system

some pictures of the entry hole and the deco chamber they talk about in the report. sorry bad pictures but still sort of cool

the out flow could push you from 45 ft to the top of the spring with seconds if you were not holding on

My favorite instructors from Birds Underwater in Crystal river were there just before the rains came and left some tanks in the bottom of the hole.

That's too fun. My wife was a reporter for PBS in Fl years ago and did a documentary on the mermaids, now we'll have to go back so she can dive with them.
