Hi all. I am attempting to break into the world of underwater photography. I'm settled on the ys-110a strobe but need help picking out an arm package. Does anyone have any opinions about the Sea Arm Light versus the Sea Arm VII???? I know very little (actually nothing) about arms and I can't find very much information online. I could really use some help!

I would go for the VII over the lite. The size of the 110a would be better supported with the VII.

What camera will you be using?

Thanks for the input! I'll be using a canon G10 with the canon housing (WP-DC28). I am brand new to this (and will be teaching myself) so if you have any other tips on gear, technique etc. I'm happy to take them.

There is a lot of good info in the threads if you dig for it. I would pick up a book(s) on U/W photography and learn/practice your camera as much as possible.
Not sure how much expierence you have with photography in general so it's hard to say where to start.

I really like the ultralight arms. I've used them for both strobe and video lights. Very well made.

Thanks. I actually had to make a quick decision so I went with the VII. I have seen that many people like the ultralight.

To correct my previous post I'll be using the G11 with the canon housing.

The UCLS products are fantastic but $$...

Please post some photos taken with the G11 when you get the chance. I know there are a lot of poeple interested in this set up.

Hope you are happy with the arms. :smiley20:

Will do. I am not sure my amateurish photography skills will do the setup justice, but I'll do my best. Will be taking photos in Bonaire over the week of thanksgiving and I'll post when I return!

:smiley36: No worries, remember the only way to learn and advance with this is to do it. Try to take multiple shot of subjects with different angles and lighting and review what seems to work and change what doesn't. The more photos you take the better the chances you will get some real winners, no point in not filling up a few memory cards. Try to figure out what went wrong on the ones you don't like and compare settings and techniques to the ones you do.

Don't get frustrated... have fun with it. :smiley20:

Here is a really good basic primer, hope it helps.
