Auto companies are realizing the demand for muscle cars again and it seems that they are coming back. Only problem though is that the cost for one is too high and now ran by computers, looking at 35,000 plus for one. Gone are the days when you wanted to replace the headers or carbs for more HP and you could basically stand in the fender wells to do it. For a couple of grand you could pick one up at the dealer and smoke the tires right off the lot with a big grin on your face, then go cruising with your buddies later. I think my favorite car of the older days would be a Chevelle SS. Big ole' 454 360 horsepower right off the lot, man that is sweet! I like the Mustangs too but naturally I am a Chevy man.

I'm a fan of the '67-'70 Mercury Cougars, and I own and have been working on a '72 Cougar (351C). I like that they have the Mustang look but aren't as common.

I drove a 65 mustang for almost 20 years and finally sold the last one a year ago. I loved that car, but knew I would never find the money or time to do her up right. Some day I would love to build a kit Cobra, as that is my second favorite car ever. But I still have to give my respect to the DeTomaso Pantera...way ahead of its time (the one below is a 1971):

They are pritty common over here. I do think the Nissan Skyline GTR is still the best thing to come out of Japan. That and Honda CBR1000rr or Yamaha R1.

Also when you next see a Pontiac GTO it actually made here in AUSTRALIA!!!! It Called the Holden Monaro.
But our front grill looks so much better. Cant wait until they release the new model and the 7litre motor.

I believe we have alot of modern muscle cars over here from GM (Holden) and Ford. Big sedans with high output v8's or turbo 6 cylinders. 411hp standard isnt bad for a factory car.

humm. well my favorite would have to be between a Hemi Cuda or the Dodge Dart, and maybe a Roadrunner.

But then again I had myself an '82 'vette that could smoke most anything off the line. man I loved that car.

It's the fastest grocery-gitter around. I don't run it a lot, but it's funny to see people's faces when you launch on them. With the quattro AWD the wheels don't spin it just goes. It's electronicaly limited to 175MPH, I honestly have not tested that. It's still pulling pretty hard at 150 though and will get there surprisingly fast......The ultimate sleeper car..

i am a Pontiac guy all the way. still have my first car. a '65 Tempest 2dr Post car. originally a 6 cylinder car, it now has a .030 455. a buddy of mine says that if God wanted front wheel drive cars to be fast he would have made horses that run sideways.

A high school buddy had a 69 Mustang GT growing up and it was a fun car to learn to drive on until my buddy decided to take a tree down with it.

A friend of mine in Vegas has a Dodge Viper RT now which is as close as I have seen to the old muscle cars of old. I'm amazed how fast it has lost its value. YOu can pick one up for $30-35k used.

I dated a girl in high school who's dad gave her one of these. Got to drive it a couple of times, over 90 and the front wheels started getting really light.. A little scary, but a lot of fun to play in!!

Don't even go there, you just had to bring up this topic! I really do not need to be confronted with major mistakes I made in my life. Every time I think about it, it still makes me want to go, find a solid object and bash my head against it for an hour or two.

At the top 10 stupid things I've done in my life was to sell my 1967 Oldsmobile 442 Post sports coupe. I bought it in 1974 with 20K on it, cherry condition, for $1,000.00 sold it two years later for $800 to buy a motorcycle. As soon as I find a photo I'll post it. Now excuse me while a go bash my head against a tree for a while.

Currently 442's of that vintage, optioned like mine (Fully Loaded) sell for oh around $50,000!

Good luck. My father found one about 1.5 years ago that had been driven 8 miles since a ground-up Concourse-style resto. '69, some interesting options (no shaker or rear louvers), man, it's a beauty. It's also one of the rare '69s that has a Ford Trans-Am block in it. That thing rev's to high heaven and back.
