What is dui. How does one stick his or her toe into it.

Panmanmatt

Well it can either be Diving Unlimited International or Driving Under the Influence.

If you are referring to the first one then you put your toe into it just like any other dry suit, if you're are referring to the latter then you're better off staying out of that one.

I think I know what happen. I went to arbys and they did not have anything I liked that was caffeine free. SO i got pepsi which I normaly do not drink since I stopped drinking stuff with caffeine about 4 or 5 years ago infact it was 5 years ago yesterday ant that odd. Well after the 32 oz pepsi I came up and got a nice big dark chocolate bar from walmart and my mom gave me a mc donalds tea. Normally the tea does not bother me but between the dark chocolate, pepsi, and tea I got a caffeine/sugar high followed by three or four hours of chest pounding pains and a racing heart rate. I almost went to the Er to be honest. I think it just wigged me out and thats why I typed dui. Could be worst I guess it could have been coke:smiley29:

Well this is something you should have asked before buying all your gear. Now you really don't want to see one now.

Nope.

The good news - you don't have to 'Be DIR' to do any type of diving. DIR hit mainstream after I'd gone a ways into the tec realm and I'll do any diving I want (deep, cave, trimix etc) - and I am not DIR.

Learn to dive then worry about everything else

Learn to dive first. Besides, it's rare that a tropical location open water scuba instructor will know how to deal with someone in a DIR gear configuration. It's hardly rocket science, but it's "different" enough that it seems to make a lot of PADI instructors' heads spin.

Thats the plan. I can imagine how he will look when I walk up in nice new stuff that is top of the line. Though I did explain why I had my own stuff and that I am a big guy and cozumel did not have the stuff to fit me.

That right there tells me it is my overall goal. Dam ranger ltd I just had to have. :smiley5:.ohhh well. Just give me a reason to buy another bc. When I drop all the weight that ranger will remind me of where I was and what got me down to where I want to be.

Big - Don't fret the details. Learn to dive, have fun and let the diving progress. I have a ranger and did a LOT of diving in before going to the BP (for doubles).

BTW - this is far cooler....

Dude, chill.

Dive first. Don't go second guessing.

Besides DIR is more than just equipment. I used a long hose (5ft) and necklaced secondary (I am not GUE certed) on 2 BC's (USD Malibu and Zeagle Stilleto) before I went to a BPW.

You can use the zeagle wing off your Ranger with a plate BTW.

When you learn to dive, you may or may not want to move to a plate.

That will properly be what sends me to a bp/w. I want to do doubles but took it out of the plan figure one day I will decide to or not. No reason to say on july 1 2011 I will buy a doubles setup.
