I just signed up for a dive at a quarry in Rawlins, Va. Have any of you been there before? What can I expect?

Is this Lake Rawlings, SW of Richmond?

If so, expect really good vis - generally 30-50ft - and depths probably down to about 70 feet. This is a good site as far as lake diving goes.

Not sure. I'll just get in the car pool and follow.

Great for quarry diving. Current temps are about 80deg on the surface down to about 25'. Max depth of the lake is around 65' with a temp around 60deg.

Not sure when you are going, but the lake is going to start cooling off soon, as summer is past. But it stays open through November, I think. Last November when I dove there the surface temp was about 65deg.

Check out thier website www.lakerawlings.com (http://www.lakerawlings.com). ALSO, from the home page, click on the "newsletter" link. This will give you current temps, news, and a link to a map.

Vis is pretty good, up to 60' on a really good day. Usually best in the morning before everything gets kicked up. Lot's of fun stuff to see including a few boats and an old school bus.

Night diving is allowed. Nothing much new to see, but still good night diving practice.

Map attached FWIW. Pretty low res, but it is the best I've found.

Enjoy, any other questions, let me know.
