I suspect the bag was Larry's idea - he's good like that!

Anyway you cut it, its great. Be sure to use the class gear in the pool sessions - you won't feel as bad when you drop their regs on the concrete. Dive safe!

I look at it this way - anytime I get a piece of new gear, I treat it like a baby. At the pool, everything is a hard and sometimes coarse surface. Just don't want you to be pre-occupied worrying about your gear at the pool when you just need to focus on learning. Take it with a grain of salt - no biggie.

I would. Do what you feel comfortable with though. Maybe changing configurations in the midst of your training isn't a good idea. Maybe I am just making way too much of this and I should shut the heck up. You got the gear, might as well use it.

Wow chewy! that's awesome!.... i'd use it in the OW! there's a confidence in having your own equipment!

Chewy, use your own gear in pool and checkout dives. I did. Amazingly, it survived the ordeal. You want to be very familiar with your gear. Where better than in the safe, enclosed environment that is a pool?

Besides, if your gear can't survive in a pool environment, would you REALLY trust it in open water?

Use your own gear.

Congrats on the new gear chewy!!!!!

While I see where Mel is coming from I would use the new gear for the whole class. I wish I'd had my gear during OW..You're going to be diving it after OW so you might as well get familiar with it during the class!!!IMHO

Congrats Chewy and happy birthday.

I would go ahead and use it throughout your OW course since that is what you will be using all the time.

I look at it this way - anytime I get a piece of new gear, I treat it like a baby.

I almost cried when my brand new Mares Abyss fell off of an 8' tall line in Dom. Rep many years ago, put a nasty dent in the top along the seam. Still works like a champ though! Just like a new car, that first ding is a pisser!
