Lets say you are doing work on Marjuro, Marshall Islands, or say Bikini. Would you order seafood? I mean... on a planetary scale, a thousand years is like a second, so the time since the bombs went off around there are like the blink of an eye.

So anyhew, I am eating dinner with this electrician, she orders parrotfish, I order a hamburger, I saw no cows on the island, so I know it was shipped in.

So like I am sitting there, and the parrot fish is looking at me, and all I can think is "Hey I swim with your cousins all the time... you munch on coral almost constantly, but you sure help to make beautiful beaches."

I don't think I want to eat seafood caught anywhere near there.. am I overly paranoid?

At my more mature age, I wouldn't think twice, but who knows if you were talking about young children who would be exposed daily for years to come???

Well is it safe to live in Hiroshima or Nagasaki if you answer yes then I think it's safe to eat the seafood. If you answer no maybe you should stick to your burger.

Having been to both and I still don't glow in the dark. I eat whatever I feel like and don't worry about it. I have never had any issues and love the local cuisine. Great stuff................

I'd eat the seafood there but it will be quite awhile before I eat shrimp from the Gulf of Mexico.

I'd eat the seafood without worry. It's been shown that the waters are pretty close to normal background radiation and there is minimal residual in the sea bed. I would not however eat produce grown on Bikini. It's been shown that the flora still has an unsafe level of radiation in it - particularly Strontium 90 and Cessium 132(?). They have found a nurse shark mutation in the waters off Bikinin though-all that's left of the smaller dorsal fin is a bump.
