Going to CSSP this weekend for the first time. What is the tempature at deep part. I've been told it is 75 to 80 at surface and 50 at the deep part. Just wondering so as to wear the right wet suit. I normally don't get chilled on dives.:smiley30::smilie39:

I have NOT been there this year - but they have good updates for conditions on their site:

Most of the diving is done at 40ft or less:

Clear Spring Scuba Park is "clearly" different (http://www.clearspringsscubapark.com/)

click conditions - then look for the conditions message board link

this time of year you should likely get all the way down to 30-40ft and be in the high 60s

The two boats that are sunk are in 25ft of water or so, the shark is in about 20ft. The plane is in about 30ft I think.

We did our certification dives there last month when the air temps were 101 and 103. I wore only a swimsuit with a t-shirt. That was fine for the shark and one of the boats but it was too cold at the second boat for me and I'm NOT typically cold. I'd suggest at least a shortie if you plan to dive deeper than 20' for any period of time. My computer said it was 74 at 25' but there was one place I could not stay down in because I was too cold (felt more like the 64 we had at Lake Ouachita a couple of weeks ago). Hope that helps.

Has anyone been to the bottom recently? Was wondering how deep it still is? What is the temp at that depth? They haven't updated the website in a month.

It is now 60-61ffw, and water is at about 62f in those 2 silo's indicated by the dark blue buoy.... as of several weekends back.

Did our Advanced Open Water this week end. It was 61 degrees at the silo & 61 ft at the bottom of the silo ( put my hand on the bottom w/ computer on the wrist). This was m7y first time in green water , what an expirence!!. Guess I've been spoiled and just didn't know it.

russp, yes there is a whole world out there that you can see more than 10 feet. Cozumel is just a few hours away. In late march early april we're headed to Egypt on a land & dive trip ( Dahab @ Dive Urge) you're welcome to tag along.
