Well, I'm a Switch Tech for a small telco out of Ripley, MS. That's my full time job. To fund my scuba I repair computers, design websites, and run a website hosting company since 1998.

Hookin aint so bad! If you keep at it long enough you can be a Master Baiter.. they make a lot of $$, especially if you own your own boat! I was a Master Baiter for a friend of mine awhile back, he runs a bass tour company. He knows exactly where the bass are and can drop a hook and within a few minutes have one on.. crazy stuff!

Food prep and management for a summer (ok, I worked at wendy's....) then,
screenprinter for almost two years (shirts and signs. got to run my own press when it was busy and the presses weren't broken!)
then I got laid off because the sales people sucked and suddenly the company was in financial trouble...No one wanted to hire me, as summer was half over, and at this point I leave for college in three weeks....so I've done odd jobs, such as lawn care and photography (weddings pay well! lots of work afterwards and pretty high stress for an hour or three.).

In college, I hope to find some odd work....maybe as a lifeguard or a climbing tower assistant at the rock gym on campus, or at the rec area by the lake (I want to convince them to let me keep a small kayak there, so I can buy a kayak and ue it whenever I want, rather than having to wait until the rec area is open to rent one)

On my days off, I try to sell anything and everything on Craigslist to fund my diving :) Anyone want a PDA, airsoft gun (very nice!) or guitar?

I like to consider myself an EMS "Contractor" because
I have a full time job as a Paramedic about 60 miles out side NYC and
I work part time /per-diem / on-call at three other local agencies doing the same thing. I pretty much go where the money is.

Additionally I have taught CPR and first aid classes to local youth groups and community organizations, but because CPR is so important to save live now days... that doesn't account for much money in the pocket.. more the karma points and general want to have a safer community

I also do event photography, sell stuff on ebay, and fool around with web site design.

Other then that, I generally spend money... its more fun then making money

I sell valves for a living, but I sell my Chicago Bears tickets on the internet to support my need for more equipment. Two years ago when the Bears were in the play offs, I sold my playoff tickets so that I could buy a compressor. If only I was able to get the Super Bowl tickets , think of the compressor I would have.

I'm a geologist/geophysicist for an oil company.

I've heard that's a crowded field because so many people are trying to work for the oil companies. Is this true that you know of? My mom's about start into a degree in environmental sciences and I told her she ought to look into working for the big bucks. She'll probably end up teaching though, that seems to be what she wants to do the most.

The demand is high and there are not a lot of folks waiting the wings for these kinds of jobs. We recruit extensively at the major universities, but still have a shortfall. Startiing salaries are very high, but graduate degrees (in geology or geophysics) are required for professional level jobs. Engineers need only a bachelors. Environmental engineers usually work for the majors or for contractors. I believe this also requires a graduate degree (someone correct me).

That said, the business does tend to be cyclical. I've been in it for nearly 30 years. Of my graduating college class, only a few of us are still in the business. Most lost their jobs in the mid-80's and never came back.

I do this because I love it, not because of the money. It is interesting and challening work that often involves understanding multiple disciplines (earth sciences, physics, biology, chemistry, structure, etc.). I have told people that I love the science, but I hate the business. (plus, you have to learn to live with being regarded as a pariah).

I have a great gig in the winter, for the last 8 winters I have been a Ski Instructor in Whistler.
<div></div>

I don't get these skiers. I find water is much more comfortable to land on when it's not frozen.

No one Skies any more.
It's all about Snow boarding baby!
:DJ:
I am a cosmetologist, snow board instructor {not officially but I do}, and I am guessing now a trip planner. I am going to try and manage to get 18 {8 are divers} people to Croatia this weekend.
Will post pictures when I get back.

I work with my husband. He owns music stores (instruments, not CDs). That means that I married a music store with my husband. We work weekends to save money to dive. Of course, then we can't dive cause we're working weekends.
