The Greater Omaha SCUBA Club will be participating in the World O! Water Festival, a free annual event aimed at educating the public about water conservation, quality and recreation. It is a fun event for the entire family and will go on, rain or shine.

Date: Sunday, September 19
Place: Papio-Missouri NRD at Wehrspann Lake, 8901 S. 154th Street, Omaha
Time: 12:00PM-4:00PM

Some of the World O! Water activities include:

Science experiments
Face painting

The club will have a table with the club banner and scuba gear displayed. Attendees to the festival are invited to breathe from a scuba regulator - no water involved. Club members can participate in a lake cleanup of Wehrspann Lake. The lake will have limited to zero visibility. We also need non-diving volunteers to help educate the public on the importance of keeping our local lakes and rivers clean. See you there!

While the weather could have been better some hardy divers still showed up for the lake cleanup at Wehrspann Lake at the World O! Water.

They were giving free canoe rides on the lake. Those in charge were great about watching for the divers bubbles. Tom gave a couple of girls in a canoe a good scare by surfacing right next to their canoe. I guess he must have looked like the Creature from the Black Lagoon. :smiley36:

Some of the trash that was collected. For the most part the lake was pretty clean, which is good.

Dennis manned the Greater Omaha SCUBA Club booth. He had scuba gear displayed, a laptop with underwater photos, and a regulator hooked up to a tank so the kids could try breathing on a regulator.
