Hey talking about elephants... they were filming a movie in the park near my house. It is a hockey movie called Breakaway (or maybe it was a television series). They had dozens of people wearing Indian clothing and there was an elephant all decorated.

Are elephants really afraid of mice?

And why do they call them "white elephant "sales.

What about Blue Light Specials.

Why blue?

K-Mart used to have blue lights around the stores, and during a blue light special, the lights would strobe.

TESTS? Now I have to do tests on the forum? ARGH!!!

What about Blue Light Specials.

Why blue?

Because red light specials are illegal in all states except Nevada!

Nobody told me there was a test... Maybe while I was alseep or at the blue light special buying a white elephant????

But I know where the White elephant comes from: A Maharajah in India would give a young white coated elephant to those who were in his disfavor but elite enough that he just couldn't take them out and destroy them so he would give the gift of a white elephant. Since it was a gift from the Maharajah, the receiver had to care for it and keep it until it dies a natural causes so the gift itself would financially ruin the receiver.

Studies showed that red was to aggressive a color and blue lights flashing were both inviting and easily visible.

the myth busters did a bit on the elephant and mouse and showed that indeed elephants are frightened of mice!

I think that is actually because they have poor eye sight and get testy (bonus points for using test) when they hear a noise bat can't identify it.

As in, invited into the squad car for doing 70 in a 55? I've never thought of flashing blue lights as "inviting"...more like, oh crap, another point and there goes my insurance rates. Who the hell did these studies anyways? :smiley36:
