Well, that would be a reason not to hang glide, and try to do a loop in a hang glider.... but at least they hit trees.... they are nice and soft at the top!

Yes, but getting to the ground can be a problem from the top of a tall tree!

not really, gravity applies to that leg of the journey as well

When I lived in California, I wtached the hang-gliders jump off the cliffs at La Jolla to sail and soar over the ocean to touch down on the beach. I can imagine how this guy would have ended up in the water or crashing on the beach without the benefit of the trees to break his fall.

I'm not sure what else the guy thought would happen. Either he didn't think that far ahead or thought that the centripetal forces would keep him aligned with the glider. Either way - oops.

One mans foolishness is another mans hobby - Many people would never consider SCUBA divin'....
