Anybody have experience with a good lamp they can recommend for both underwater caves and land caving?

I suppose the LED Photon Torpedo is a pretty good backup in nearly any situation, but above-ground is such a different scenario it's hard to say. Cannister lights are too fragile to bang around rocks on land without water to cushion them, plus they'd overheat in short order without the water to well, water-cool them.

The UK Light Cannon HID is a possible exception to that... they can run in the air no problem, from what I understand. Runtime is not as good as LED, however, but they put out more light, so it depends on where your priorities are. Topside you can swap in fresh batteries a lot easier, and that really changes things...

I'd probably look into land-specific options topside and not try to get a compromise light.

Thanks for the info - I think you're right. I think it's probably worth investing in a few separate lights. There is nothing that is all-encompassing it seems
