So I was thinking it's about time to put together another trip to Beaver & rent the 42ft pontoon from Lost Bridge marina.
I looked online & we can't reserve the boat until after the first of Feb.
I'm thinking either the end of March 0r early April.
If we can get about 10-15 people together & split the cost of the boat it won't cost to much per person. I beleive it cost $315.65 after taxes plus fuel to refill the boat which cost us around $20.00 last year. I am open the last couple of weekends in March or the first few weekends in April.
So who wants to go????? Pretty sure BiggBudd will meet us on his boat & maybe shows us a new spot or two...

I work on the 16th, but we are far enough out that I can get someone to work for me.

I'm sure my wife won't mind spending the day shopping in Eureka!

Bigg_Budd

bigg budd and the uss banana pancakes -- a.k.a. the uss marble eye slayer -- will be there. i will come equipped with new dive spots, obscene and offensive rap music, and enough earl campbell hot links to feed an army.

i can't speak for wheelman, but my bet is that he'll ride shotgun with me. i'm having lunch with him tomorrow and will get the 411.

My wife (SheDiver) & I plan on diving Friday also, we plan to head that way early Friday morning. We could meet up with anyone wanting to do a shore dive (or 2) that day, I'm about 1 hour & 30 mins from the lake. I think we may stay at CandJ's where we can rent extra tanks for the boat, and be close to the dam for shore diving on Friday & Sunday...

Well, my wife's all for the trip so it's all but a guarunteed I'll be there. Just have to get a trade for work now. We will most likely be staying in Eureka. I know it's a pretty good drive up to the marina, but there are a few places we love to stay in town.

Long time no talk everyone. Chances are I'll be down for any date if I can get a few weeks notice but last year was a blast! I'll most likely be using my drysuit and I have a small Pinnacle 7mm wetsuit someone could borrow for the day if they need one.

Hey fire, where do you & the wife like to stay in Eureka? My wife & I spend a long weekend in Eureka once or twice a year, (not counting at candj's we stay at the Flatiron Flats or the Treehouse Cottages. We have stayed at the Basin Park Hotel once, Flatiron (across the street is better) anyway we may try something new next time???

WE love the treehouse cottages and the Basin Park Hotel. We stay in that very first room that has the sun room over the walkway. It's not a 5 star hotel, but it's old, it's quaint (sp?) and its where we had our honeymoon. The cottages are probably our favorite though.

We really love the treehouse cottages & the Flatiron (although it's like $200 a night) we like to stay here the first weekend in May & watch the Art festival parade. They have little balcony's right out on the street, great people & parade watching. The Basin park is really cool too, it may not be 5 star but it's a very neat old building. We always stop into the balcony bar to have a drink & eat lunch no matter where we stay.

I've read from some of the past years, that some folks have camped. I think barring any drastic weather we would be camping, even if that means getting out the camp stove. However, if weather is too raw I'm sure squaw will easily get the majority vote for a room, not only because I love her, but she also cooks my dinner :smiley11:. Is Lost Bridge South or North campground a good spot to camp in relation to where everyone will be at? BottomDweller, I'm sure we will be down Friday around noonish at this point and would love to do some shore diving. Thanks.

Lost Bridge campsites are about an 1/2 hour from C&Js. There are campsites on the south dam site that are nice and about 1 minute away.

That I do not know. CRNA and I have only used our camper at CandJ's. However, there are maybe 8 guest houses. Pop over to their website and see if they have the pricing listed for them. When we book the boat, we (like that "we"?) may want to see if the rooms are available and ask for a block.

bottomdweller
02-01-2011, 10:21
Here is the website. CandJSports Lodging (http://www.candjsports.com/camping_lodging.html)
C&J's has one room above the shop with 2 double beds, They have 6 rooms down the hill out back, all have 2 double beds also. They also have a 2 bedroom mobile home with fold out couch that sleeps six. There are full hookup camp sites, (water, electric, sewer) for $24.00 per night, or just water & electric for $17.50 per night, tent sites are $10.00. They have 2 bunk houses one sleeps 7 people & the other sleeps 6, These are $10.00 per night per person or a minimum of $30 a night.
Shoot, you and your wife may want to camp at the dam sites wheelman mentioned? they are just down the road & will offer a better view of the lake than the campsites at c&j's.

Bigg_Budd
02-01-2011, 12:12
If the rallying point is Lost Bridge Marina, why not camp at Lost Bridge North? It will save you a 20-30 min haul from C&J, the campsites are right on the lake, there is decent shore diving 24/7, and LBM can fill your tanks. Just sayin...

gNats

Well I was planning on staying at C&J's so I could rent tanks & plan on shore diving the bluffs on Friday & again on Sunday morning.
I think shoot2retrieve was just looking for someplace close to where everyone else was staying. I don't mind the 40-45 min drive to lost bridge on saturday morning. Budd I have never camped or dived at lost bridge north, tell me is it as good shore diving as the bluffs? frank - it was just a reco for those considering camping. i get the whole reason to stay at c&j, especially if there will be a social scene. :)

fwiw - the campsites look nice. can't speak for the diving, though. me and wheel tried to dive it a few weeks back, but the conditions were poor (cold and windy). judging by my topographical of beaver, it should be pretty good. of course, i think anything is better than the bluffs, but i'm spoiled...
