I have heard a lot of conversation about dry mouth and the mention of a Bio Filter. I am not familiar with the Bio Filter and was wondering what it is and has anyone used it. It appears that it is an in-line air moisturizer from the website. Thanks!

I wrote a review of it here:

My dive buddy/father just ordered one for himself.

I have heard rumors that the Bio Filter can accelerate 2nd stage corrosion. Is there any truth to this ? I like the idea of adding a little moisture to your air. I tend to get a sore throat after a few dives.

No.. the second stage gets water in it all the time... it's made for that. I haven't had any problems using mine for the last 6 years or so.

I almost bought one but I started putting a peppermint in my mouth before every dive. It lasts nearly the whole dive and stimulates saliva production. Bingo, no more dry mouth. And a lot cheaper than the biofilter.

Sure, it's not actually making the air more moist, so you don't get the benefit to your lung tissue.....

I have a bio-filter and it has made a huge difference for me.

I just wasn't making enough salavia during the dives to keep up with the dry mouth.

I have heard some good points on the filter. Even if you can stop the dry mouth, the dry air is still going in your lungs.
