So I can breath and am control my buoyancy in the water, maybe cut a line or some kelp to free myself, but what else should I have on the boat?

I have seen posts about throwing stuff in your "Save a Dive" box. What do you have in yours? What other "things in a box" do you take on your dives? Hoses, light bulbs, batteries?

They have some premade kits on St, but anything else you found you needed a few miles too late?

Computer battery if yours is user-replaceable.
I carry an extra fin strap with the attached buckles. I used to just carry a generic fin strap until I broke a buckle one dive.
Extra mask
On liveaboards we bring a backup reg.
I usually have a pair of surfwalkers that double as backup boots.

I put another vote in for vinegar/alcohol mix. Some of the worst times in my life was with an ear infection.

I bought an inexpensive plastic Craftsman tool box (less than $20) and I fill it with all sorts of spares...

Backup fin straps and a generic fin strap (that doesn't require any buckles)
Zip ties
Regulator mouth piece
Defog
O Rings of all sizes
Old dental tool (for digging out those old o rings)
Spare HP hose
Spare BC hose
Wreches for the above hoses
Silicon lube
Pliers/cutters
Letherman tool
Screwdrivers
First aid stuff
Spare tank cam strap
Spare fasteners (for octos, gauges, etc.)
Zipper wax
More zip ties
Paint marker (for marking your equipment)
Tire inflator adaptor for BC hose (to fill your float tube for abalone diving)
Spare latex wrist seals (if you have the cuff rings for quick changes)
Sun screen
Nylon chord
Elastic chord (several sizes)

In my gear bag, I do carry an extra mask, gloves, and misc gear I've collected. Since I don't live near the coast, my thinking is I don't want to waste a long drive. Always have a contingency plan!

I keep some spare straps, tylenol, mask defog, few tools, zip ties and some duct tape. I would not mind having some spare hoses and a back up mask.

Here,s what's in my save a dive kit:

1. O-rings
2. Spare mouth piece
3. Dive tool
4. Fin strap
5. Mask Strap
6. Spare mask (in my case prescription mask !)

If I'm going some place remote or on a live aboard, I also take a back-up reg & computer.
