my old rig with the light, battery, charger... total price around $3000.

GoPro on the right...... I got the new underwater flatport housing from Backscatter, as well as the tray, arm, red filter, and lens cap. Total price around $550.

I love my gopros I have two as well with the eye of mine flat lens kits that are pressure tested to 200 ft for an hour
no issues at all with them ever.

Thanks! I realize that my videos are going to be different now, but I think my interest in shooting videos has changed, also. We will see how it goes this trip to Cozumel. I hope to get in the water here this weekend (fresh water) and try it out before the trip, but who knows.

I need a tripod for my JVC HD video camera. I want it in the $30-$80 range. Mostly for taking video of the kids. Any suggestions? Amazon has about 20 or so in that range and I am all confused.

Just find something with a nice fluid head. The problem with most bargain tripods is the head is not smooth
watch ebay too.
I just purchased an 8 ft jib (Crane) and track dolly for videos now all I need is a good tripod. I will let you know what I settle on

You should start your own thread about this , rather than tacking onto my thread about my rig. You aren't going to get as many answers because my heading is about downsizing, not a tripod. Start the thread and you will get some answers.
