he'll be ok. 50 feet is not that deep so you should not worry too much about his safety. expect him to be a bit tired when he gets back home.

If the visibility isn't but 20' and the bottom is at 75', he won't see much of anything, except of course the divers around him :D

If your referring to what will he experience, most likely the same thing he experiences at 20'. At 50' his wetsuit will be compressed more so he will be heavier, which will require more air in his BC to keep him neutral. Buoyancy should be the first thing on his mind at this point.

He, most likely, will be experiencing Nirvana!
You can expect an excited husband who will shortly need a nap.

You're learning :)

:smiley32:

So if he is doing his OW checkout's he'll be doing little but practicing skills he learned, so he'll be hyper but really won't have much to share in the ways of 'diving'.

Diving to 60' is a lot like 20 - 30' visibly.. just uhmm.. wet and deeper?

50' is very much like 20', except darker.

Really.

(Unless, of course, there's something super cool at 50' or 20' at that particular dive site)

that is true...
especially for us here in Florida.
there is very few reasons to go deeper than 40-50 feet. you can see tons of great reefs and even wrecks at 30-60 feet...

you husband will be tired, because diving makes people tired. and at 50' deep... he can expect about a 50' swim to the surface... should take just about 2 minutes at the right rate. and since it is check out dives, he might even be bored a bit, much like i was.

I can remember my OW dives. I thought, man I don't need to go any deeper than 40', we ended up at 40'. Then it was 60'. About two weeks later a DM buddy of mine wanted to do the 80' platform, so we did it. Now I have been to 100+ several times.

Your hubby will be tired but happy when he sees all the gear that you have for him.

Well it's not what to expect at 50' its what he will be like after it. He is going to probable drive you nuts by constatly talking about diving and passing out form complete exhaustion.

She already let me get all of my gear. (Sorry ST wish I had known you before I ordered it it would have been a much better experience)

If he's like me the view will instantly hook him. He'll never look back.

Not much to worry about the dive, but you can expect his credit card bill to go up as soon as he comes back and start buying gear. :)

She already let me get all of my gear.

Please note two key concepts:
1) She already let me She was onboard with the purchase. I've had to hide some gear from my wife:smiley36:

2) get all my gear. Wrong-o. The desire for more gear never ceases. It's not called ScubaTOYS for nothing. There's always "just one more piece".

In direct answer to the question, he'll be excited and want to talk about it. And, uh, given your avatar...what else can he expect?
